[BtS] Diplomacy text: ActualQuotes for BtS

This mod is compliant with standard UK spelling. Like me.

Regarding Ragnar's verses, I've said before I don't particularly like them myself. They are the only so-called quotes I've found for the man in English (he probably did exist -- I actually think two people bore that name). That said, I think I will alter his whole set if I ever do a new version of the mod.

...Due to popular demand and low-level abuse >:p

Xenomorph, that would be excellent. I had real trouble finding quotes for him.

Chugginator: Hah. That's funny. Yes, expect it to be after Christmas rather than before.

Does anybody know whether it's possible to tweak the other diplomacy lines as well. I mean, I'd like to take out that awful "Your head looks good on an end of a pole" line (whoever came up with that line should be shot in the kneecaps), just imagine Gordon Brown saying that to Putin in todays world and you get the idea...

It's in Civ4DiplomacyText.xml.

I think that's the one. I'm at work and can't check. But it's in one of the files that comes with this mod anyway. Just open it up and do a text search for "pole" ;)

Oh, it's that easy. Thanks.

By the way, I have never really understood the installation instructions, they don't work for me. If I put the files in the folder
...My Documents\My Games\Beyond the Sword\CustomAssets\xml\text then nothing happens. To get this to work I have to put them in the folder
...C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Assets\XML\Text

That's strange.

In the custom assets folder, the game should use the files automatically without overwriting the originals.

I'm assuming you overwrote the originals, the way you did it. No biggie that, but it's strange you couldn't get it to work the normal way.

EDIT: Do you have BTS?

Yes, I have BTS. This is the content of the /text folder, I overwrote the originals:
My Documents\My Games\Beyond the Sword\CustomAssets\xml\text

28 July 2007 13:44 442 KB CIV4DiplomacyText.xml
28 July 2007 13:57 78 KB CIV4GameText_DiplomacyText_BTS.xml
28 July 2007 11:27 64 KB CIV4GameText_Warlords_Diplomacy.xml

Hmm, I did at some point, I had the civilopedia index or something. Anyway, it's not the fault of actualquotes; maybe it's just easiest if I uninstall/reinstall civ4, that should solve it I guess.

Possibly. Even probably.

ActualQuotes runs well with most other mods, as most other mods don't modify diplomacy files.

That's why it's so easy to put into CustomAssets. You can just leave it there, and it will run with any- and everything else you choose to load.

Got this sorted in the technical forum. The culprit was that I had locked modified assets in the options.
