I am trying to make a complete 'guide' to the way different leaders behave in beyond the sword. I can get a few, but help would be appreciated with your experience on how they act.
Tokugawa: Isolationist, never want to trade or talk to you.
Montezuma: Huge doucebag.
Shaka: Likes declaring war a lot.
Gandhi: Extremely peaceful, spends a lot of time making missionaries.
Isabella: Religious zealot, hates everyone who is views as an infidel.

If you have any others, please add on.

Suryavarman : semi-decent techer, but also treacherous AI and builds some armies(he declares at pleased, I think. Not at friendly, though)
Napoleon: Decent warmongerer - techer
Alexander: Crazy warmongerer, who might declare on you and send an army even if you are half across the world.
Justinian : zealot.
Augustus Caesar: keeps some armies, but won't declare at pleased, and uses them to self-defend/conquer an easy target.
Catherine: Rapid EXpander (REXer), declares at friendly, and thus very treacherous.
Stalin: slightly paranoid (has a - modifier with all civs)
Mansa Musa: Extremely decent techer, but as his army is feeble, he will usually vassal to a stronger civ and can be a huge nuisance in that situation
Asoka : good competent all-round AI.
Elizabeth: good techer.
Lincoln and Roosevelt: good all-round leaders, but usually end up being hated for some reason.
Zara Yacob: zealot and good techer.

Roosevelt: Fail, just put him out of his misery
Pericles: Also worthless, but at least a good tech trader.
Ramsees: Wonder building Trash
Gahndi: Culture Trash. But it is annoying if he was on another continent.

Usually they're the best targets around

Gilgamesh: Expander and warmonger. Careful, and getting him and you to adopt HR is a good idea
Zara Yaqob: Strong expander, techer, and will attack at pleased. Be very careful, as he's one of the best AIs
Isabella: Religion, religion, and more Religion
Sitting Bull: Does not like to do anything but annoy you with demands and spies. Nobody likes him.
Catherine: Insanely petty mass expander. Will hate you for refusing requests; will backstab anyone if you are friendly with her.
Bismark: Will attack you if you refuse his demands.
Qin Shi Huang, nice guy usually, but a bit slow with the techs. May backstab you if he's in the mood.
Julius Caesar: Is smart with picking which wars to fight.

Settle a crap city against Toku's borders and gift it to him. That usually gets him to pleased and you can open borders.

If you really feel troubled, you can do this to get Shaka to pleased, beg him constantly for small things so you can get peace treaties... then bribe him to attack someone else.

warmongers tend to tech behind very quickly. is this the norm or did they just get unlucky in my games?

No, that usually happens, and there is a solid reason for it.
If you keep building troops, you can't build libraries.

I seem to remember MadScientist made a start on something like this a while ago, like about a page discussing each leader. I don't recall if he finished every leader though - can't find the thread quickly now but I'm sure you could with a bit of search-fu.

Also there is a spreadsheet on the war academy giving all the detailed hard numbers which sit behind the AIs personalities. They're all just pulled out of the XML files and can be useful to understand why the AIs are doing things (if you don't mind reading numbers :D)

In my games, Shaka, Napoleon and Ragnar seem to tech somewhat OK. Genghis and Alex not so well. Monty is hopeless - he's famous for having 1,324 obsolete troops in the late game. Shaka, I find, is the most dangerous of any AI.

I don't find Toku to be a problem, he shoots himself in the foot without fail.
Sitting Bull is an anamoly - a peacenik who builds a lot of troops. He's good for a phony war to keep you on the good side of the psychos.

Pericles: Also worthless, but at least a good tech trader.

I lose more games to Pericles than any other AI. If nobody takes him out he's very likely to pull off a cultural victory.

MantaRevan, go here and copypaste your I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=38.253247,-85.481806 thing in there.

Even though I'd advise against someone posting his personal info on an anonymous web forum, specially when said person his clearly oblivious in the most basic things, like in how to create a web forum signature.

I agree, but I can't seem to be able to trun these stupid geotags off.

Regardless, I don't have anything to worry about, that isn't my real location anyway, but it would be nice to remove it anyway.
