Can I get a few volunteers to help me test out the M.A.D. Nukes Mod? You need to be patched up to 3.19 and be willing to start at a later era so you can get nukes faster.

So far, I'm loving the mod. The only problem is that it's a total pain to merge into most mods, since most mods are using the BUG mod, which drastically alters the python. You'd be a true hero if you could merge MAD Nukes into the BUG mod.

Glad to hear it. Let me grab bug and see how hard it is to integrate. Should only take a few minutes since the changes in the python are minimal in MAD Nukes. Once I do it I'll write up info on how to do it.

How exactly "alters"?

I'm curious since I intend to move over to BUG myself, eventually.

Take a look for yourself. Almost every screen, the event manager, gameutils, and every other core python file is vastly different than in BTS.

I suppose I should, but those alterations doesn't make it harder to use Python, right? But it would make merging of code a pain, as you mentioned...

Anyone worth their lick in programming should be able to merge in any mod into BUG... :p

Harder to merge normal BTS python modcomps. Fortunately, I'm usually making the mod comps, not merging them these days. ;)

So, like all 5 of us?

Touché! :king:

I haven't even looked at it, and I pretty much know that I could do it. But thats just because I do know a lick of Python, so I'd be able to figure it out just by looking at the code. It just logic, after all.

Its almost like non-programmers think that programming skill is something you're born with. Or that you need to be some kind of genius to even get into it.

I originally learned some programming in childhood and only picked it up again earlier this year. I knew zero Python and almost nothing about CivIV modding. And I'm as crappy at math today than I was back in elementary school, but even that isn't stopping me. (If I was some kind of math genius I would probably have become a professional programmer to start with. But you hardly need any "professional" skill to mod CivIV!)

I've been programming for almost my entire life but didn't have any formal training until college... I never used Python until I started modding Civ4 but my theory on programming is that if you have the fundamentals of writing software then languages are just syntax and libraries and nothing more... Now I am a software engineer/architect for Intel which has afforded me the tool set to mod effectively for Civ4 and Civ5 when it comes out.

As for merging my mod comps into BUG... I might do it but I have so many other projects piling up on my plate that i have to pick which ones will have the biggest bang for the buck.

BTW, what is "Random Cottage Placement"...?

It is my new mod comp for BtS... Its fun converting mod comps from Vanilla and Warlords to BtS but its much more entertaining to create new content.

But... but, what will it do?
