[BtS] Merged Mod

I must admit, however, that I have a WoW addiction at the moment that just wont go away! :p

Lol WOW, that game is so blah, iono how anyone still plays that silly game, every expansion is same sh!t diff day, i feel sorry that you would waste your short time on this planet on something as pathetic as WOW, but again that is your choice.

i was looking through this thread, and noticed there seems to be an issue for Vista users, though your answer of get XP is um special, personally i will never go back to that outdated crap system, is there any progress on a fix, or have you simply quit trying, either way is fine, simply wondering so i might keep an eye on this mod.

Again thanks for any info on this, have a good one, peace.

I'm on Vista now, so if I've said that people should get XP, well, shame on me. I have issues in some games, other games are fine, but I can't seem to find the cause. I won't say that I've quit trying, but I am stuck trying to find this elusive behaviour. I am aiming for updating to newest Better AI and *maybe* upgrading the BUG components. There is also the issue of removing high poly-count units, but I doubt that will help. My system is fairly high end, and I still get crashes sometimes that really shouldn't be related to system specs.

And get off my back on the wow thing. At least I told y'all why I there's no upgrades in a long time. My enthusiasm for that game is fading (I only got the original game in december 2008, and don't have any expansions), and I am quite sure I could find some thing that you do in your life that I would find an utter waste of time. :p

Couldn't you use the WolfRev version of Wolfshanze.FPK to solve the high-poly problem?

Only thing you'd have to worry about are the units you added.

WolfRev hasn't been altered, it still has all the high poly units. The Bronze Steam and Tears Wolfshanze.fpk has been altered, and the Art Defines Unit and Ethnic art XML has been edited accordingly. The problem Ninja would have using it is that I have made some changes, such as removing the Pre-Dreadnought class, which would need to be manually edited anyway. This is thread with the list of units that have excessive poly counts:

Edit: Thanks Ninja for the advise on Barbarian world, I got it working :)

Good to hear, phungus! :) Did you read that pm I sent you some time ago?

Honestly, I've been waiting for you to come back to do your mod. WolfRev is real good, but I think your mod better on the combat side of things, outside of the partisans (I prefer the way WolfRev does that as a DCM option- that emergency draft thing)

I do miss the pre-Dreadnoughts.

Well then I have good news for you (I hope). :) I am in the process of setting up the debugging process on my laptop. Hopefully that will allow me to at least identify that bug which is haunting this mod for Vista users (self included).

What exactly is bothering you about the partisans? Are they too strong/weak, appear too rarely?

I think they're ok, but I think the IDW Emergency Draft provision works better, and is simpler.

Really, what I'd want from your mod is That + the BST Art Changes. Some things from BST I'm not a fan of.

If by art changes you mean cutting the high poly units, then that is certainly on the to-do list. I don't know enough about 3D models yet to do it myself, but I am going to see how phungus has done it, and possibly use some of his reduced models.

I used the list linked in the thread above that identified the high poly units. Then I took the axe to the Art Defines Unit, and Ethnic Art files. Not much more to it then that. The last couple days I've been cutting the fat off of the Wolfshanze.fpk as well, with all the removed unit art, and all the art Wolfshanze had packed that he never even used, I was able to trim off about 100MB. It's not easy to do, in fact it's quite tedious, basically you need to use Notepad and Notepad++ to search and terms and doublecheck (I used both open so I could save search terms, no other reason, just wanted to be able to drop to the next instance of whatever I was searching for with hitting f3, instead of having to retype a term-since I'd have to switch search terms in the other file, la..da..da). Like I said, it's tedious, but I think it was necessary. I can't really help you with much more then that, because you can't really use my finished product, as you'd need to manually edit it anyway...

Hey, great list! I hadn't seen it before! Did you just remove those models entirely? Or are you replacing them with lower poly units?

Just removed them. I've added in some new ethnic art though, but it's cobbled, I haven't searched for direct replacements. The only model I feel like I'm missing cause of it is a Native American Knight model, unfortunately the only appropriatly looking model in the DB is close to 4,000 polys, so it's a no go.

Why not use a free program called: WindowsGrep it goes thru whichever folders you wants and checks for any word(s) pertaining to that word, if this makes sense?? Just a thought.

For those interested, I am planning a major update of this mod. Given that a lot of my merged stuff has now been updated (Better AI at 0.70, Inquisitions at 2.01, BUG at 3.6), and that there are a few new nice components out (Advanced combat odds calculator, examine-city-on-capture-option), I think an update is in order.

I also am now able to debug, which is really cool. :scan:

Now, the bad news: I messed up my own, extremely customized CIV installation the other day, while trying to get BUG 3.6 to unpack. I don't know how much time I'll have this coming week to do stuff, but things are happening behind the scenes! :D

Yes, it's 3.17 compatible only.

UPDATE TIME!!!

Please read the first post for details! :)

Ninja, just so you know you are welcome to use LoR's ArtDefines and Wolfshanze.fpk if you decide to clear out the high poly models from the Wolfshanze Mod. Everything should work fine (porvded you also used the Civilizations Ethnic unit art), except you'd be missing Predreadnoughts, but other then predreads the LoR ArtDefines and EthnicUnitArt file should work fine with your UnitInfos. Anyway, just figured I'd let you know since I'd figure you'd be interested in clearing out those high poly models. Also think you should look at the install scripts, having an installer is pretty cool. Anyway, glad to see you're keeping it updated.
