[BtS] Rise of Mankind 2

I know this might mean tweaking with Python, but wouldn't any civ applying Federalism become a <Civ Name> Federation or Federal Republic of <Civ Name>?

I only ask because as diverse as the Dynamic Civ Naming system is, it can be even better.

I've thought about this few times, as well as adding some other choices depending on what civics player use but the actual python code is a bit difficult to edit as it doesn't use civic names at all to identify chosen civics, instead it uses RevDCM's new civic xml modifiers. So editing it would mean that I'd have to rewrite the most of the dynamic civ name functions, create whole lot of new text entries and so on. So I haven't tried making this change, there's been always stuff with higher priority.

Can that be put under RoM 3.0's final polishing list? Or just **** it and let it be?

I get these random 'Failed to write BUG ini file' or something when i start the game...

Nvm i figured out the problem misplaced some files ^_^

Played a full game of the mod, loved it. Although it can be a bit overwhelming in the modern age on with the number of techs and units. I found myself ignoring most (mostly because I was done warring by that time)

Revolutions mod I had to disable (and abandon my first game). It caused a really hard crash and froze my computer completely. I attribute it to that mod as it happened right after some units spawned due to a city revolution. I hadn't killed off all the previous units form the last revolution (one spearman was fortified in a forest, and I really couldn't dislodge him without wasting many good units). The new units spawned and froze up my computer majorly. The mod isn't very fun anyways. I seemed to have no way to get my cities under control. Stationing units in there didn't help much.

I played Mali on the Earlth 28 civ map next. Very overpowered traits. But I figured the starting position would help offset that. It may have been challenging had I not started conquering fairly early (had to take advantage of the uu) Took out 2 Carthage cities in North Africa. They turned out to be decent cities (one of them went legendary- I won a cultural victory). Egyptian cities next (actually China conquered Egypt for some reason, so I figured I'd take the high maintenance cities off their hands). Eventually Europe, then North America to deal with the Aztecs. I'd like to see a world map without the Aztecs. They are a serious nuisance and will always declare on you. Even the Mongols were reasonable this game (though they never got strong due to Japan dominating Eastern Asia).

It was a slow cultural victory as I originally intended to do Scientific Victory. But I figure I never do cultural victories, so I may as well learn how to do one (fairly easy actually). It was real late in the transhuman age. I could have easily won by domination many, many turns earlier. Or kept my tech rate high and got scientific. But this was satisfying. Seems to me space victory is real hard to achieve. I never did get all the techs to build all the spaceship parts. Space and Scientific seem to take far too long to get. It's far easier to go for conquest/domination or cultural. I'd like to try religious, but I'm not sure how easy that will be. Seems hard to me.

As for performance after disabling the revolutions mod (I also disabled the civ ranaming thing, as I thought running out of civ names might cause a crash), I only had a few ctd's. Usually after I forget to save for a while. Thank god for autosave. Save times take a few seconds, and I usually forget. Turn times were a little lengthy on Earth huge map, 28 civs, marathon speed, but not unreasonable. I have 8 gigs of ram, Athalon Phenom II 945 4core processor, windows 7 64 bit, geoforce gts 250 video card.

As for bugs, the biggest one I seen is on the F3 civics screen. Is there any way to display it like Civ4 usually does? It only shows the government options, you can't see the other "tabs" on the bottom part like for Power etc. If you click on it, it takes you to the sevopedia instead of changing the bottom part like civ4 vanilla usually does. It makes it difficult to quickly do an overview of the civics to find which one is best for you. I had to hover over the civic group heading to find out what my current civic is and the stats associated with that, then select another civic in that group, go back to the heading to see what the stats are for that one. Then I'd have to cancel if I didn't want that particular setting. I didn't change civics alot partially because of this. Although anarchy times were long too. And I found beaurocracy to be fairly effective even with a large distant empire. I was still able to maintain a high science rate. Might be a little overpowered.

I noticed there are several unused resources in the unloaded mods folder: amber, clay, jade, etc.

Are these working, and if so, how do I load them?

Moving the "resources" folder into the "modules" folder does nothing. Moving the individual resources, e.g. "amber" folder into the modules folder makes the resource show up in game, but just as a pink square. I'm guessing I have to move an art file from some place to some where, but I don't know where.

Unfortunately you can't use those extra resources and have things (happy faces, unhealthy etc.) show correctly. There is a limit in Civ of 64 resources and RoM uses all 64 spaces.

Have you tried scrolling down?

An element that I'd like to see incorporated into RoM is a means to limit the era.

ie. have the tech tree stop at the modern era.

Hi Zappara, this is the best mod for me! I love it!
Congratulations!

I'm sorry for that, but the Hungarian civ have not correct sound file, just german language. I need to fix it!

Please download and implement to your mod the hungarian sounds! You can download that from this link:
download Hungary sounds

Sorry for my bad english.

BR and THANKS,

Cormac

Thanks for the sounds, I'll include them in the next civ update.

Hi, great!

I finally got a full Hungarian mod. Is it possible to get into it as well?
Maybe with the sounds what I sent.
This would be the very best for me!

hungarian mod

Hi, whats abot the performance ? is it now playable ? Means: turn time, ram errors, and so on ?
Any fixes for that ?
(I want to play the game but i hate the performance leaks of 2.8)

I used to play this back in the 2.4 or so days with very few CTD errors, except that the megapack wouldn't work for me starting around 2.3 or so.

Just patched and reinstalled and now I am getting crashes to desktop all the time. Can't play more than 20-30 turns or so and then the crashes start.

Too bad for me I guess. Unfortunately means I'll put Civ back on the shelf, probably forever now, as vanilla is too tedious to play without the added features of RoM2.

I guess there is always Civ5 to look forward to. Good luck all...

Then simply don't install the megapack. It is not compatible with RoM 2.91 or AND 1.73B.
