BUG's Sourceforge wiki mentions that the project could use help merging BUG with the Firaxis mods. I've created a merge of BUG and Next War already. I have a merge of Next War with BUG 3.5.1 (no longer up) and a merge of Next War with BUG 3.6 and the Unofficial 3.17 Patch.

I could easily make a BUG 3.6 + Next War (without the Unofficial Patch) if that would be helpful.

Our goal is to have these merged versions be optional installations with BUG now that we're using the uber cool NSIS installer. When my PC is functional again, I'll see what that will take.

Thanks! :goodjob:

I'm trying your merged version because you saved me the time of merging again with the new 3.6 release :)
Only thing not wotking that I found till now is the multiple graphs feature, is it wotking for you?

And was the same work done to the script data (convert to use SdToolkit) that I had done with you, Cammagno?

the foreign advisor screens for me look old using that merge.

they aren't as nice as the ones in my regular BUG install.

Apologies for not replying earlier. I thought I set it to e-mail me when I received replies. Anyhow, I'll look into the bugs mentioned, but I don't really have much of a grasp the workings of BUG or Next War so I probably won't be great at troubleshooting.

what would i lose without the unofficial patch merged with it?

doesn't BUG already contain alot of the fixes from it?

You'd lose all of the bug fixes contained in the DLL. BUG contains all of the Python fixes, but doesn't touch the DLL. However, assuming Next War doesn't modify the DLL either, you could just drop it in. If it does, that's a teensy bit harder, and by a teensy bit, I mean a lot more.

This assumption is correct: Next War doesn't have a DLL.

unofficial dll works with the last download you provided.

i have the unoficial dll in my main assets folder, so its always in use.. unless a mod provides a new one. and when i hover over the civ flag.. it shows the correct version.

so.. all is well. the new merge you posted works fine, and the advisor screens are correct now.

one thing though, i normally use a DLL that has merged Better AI & Unoffical Patch. I was going to copy in the XML files from that merge into your next war so it works with it.. but there was one or two files already present, and they were quite long.

Global Defines.. and Units or something like that. how hard would it be to merge the two myself?

Download and install the free program WinMerge. It will allow you to see a comparison of the two files and perform a merge from one to the other.

  1. Copy Next War's file.
  2. Compare it to Better AI's file.
  3. Copy differences from BetterAI to NW copy.
I suspect there will be very few changes in both files. The reason I say copy from BAI to NW is that NW will have all the new units. BAI should just have a few changes. And since NW adds new units, BAI won't have changed those areas of the file.

Here's a tip: compare the one you expect to have fewer changes to the regular Beyond the Sword file, then merge whatever changes it made into the file from the other mod.

I've recently played a PBEM game of Next War and it was fun ... except for the nukes. I would love the ability to take them out of the game, instead of that crappy 'cracked earth' solution. I suppose I could just remove them from the unit builds in the XML.

does this still work the latest version of bug? there's been a few releases of BUG since i've tried this. (im using the latest SVN)

oh and when are we going to get an official version of this?
