Building Resources

Its nice to belong to a Forum where some decent people are for a change.

Actually, I'm naked. :D

I want to get a vote from everyone (unrelated to previous statement). I need to update this mod and want to upgrade the custom notifications system at the same time. There are a couple of good candidates for custom notifications right now but I haven't had the time to look at them in detail. One provides greater mod interoperability while the other provides a modding standard that we might all do better to follow. Please consider them and cast your vote. Thanks. :)

There is still an option C I am looking into. I like a lot of what Moaf did, and the ideal solution would be some manner of combination of the 2.

Right now, using Moaf's method on more than 1 mod running would cause several errors, and there will be a code update to my version by the end of the day (to fix a notification option bug Thal found)
 
Votes submitted as ideal code will be weighted more heavily than others. :)

Personally, I'm in favor of expanding standards at the cost of including a vanilla file. Independence is good, but conventions are better. In theory, it's not a compatibility problem, but rather a collaborative opportunity.

I didn't realize Moaf's is concurrency borked. Unless he has a fix, I guess it's not an option.

I'd agree; a standard altered vanilla file, when applied sensibly, effectively increases interoperability as long as everyone uses it. It's also the only way to fix some problems (like execution order problems).
 
I've incorporated building resources mod into my own, and I am able to create resources that buildings need. I am able to build buildings that require the resources, but am unable to build units that require the resources. Any suggestions?
 
Sorry for bumping such an old thread, but can anyone tell me where I can find this "Building Resources -- Template" mod these days? The Workshop replaced the screen where I'd find it, Googling it isn't working out and I'm afraid I'm not nearly skilled enough to get all that lua to work without it.
 
Harald if it's for Gods and Kings you don't need this lod anymore.
With the extension buildings can produce resources. Look at the Recycling Center in the xml file of the extension to find the code for this.

If it's for Vanilla Civ5 I will put the mod to download when I am back at home (=tomorrow).
