Building Teaser Pics

dont worry Aaglo we all know they could have made life easier for everyone by doing this and that... but its Firaxis we love them even when they do screw up... (well at least i still do...)

I love "borrowing" your building models aaglo for inspiration. I still need to find another copy of C3C so I can play WH in CivIII again.

its always nice to see another orc and gobbo supporter aaglo. Death to da 'oomies! waaagh!

Oh, wez gonna gets youz skinny elveses after da oomies! could you just come outta yer big scary forest fer a minuite? we have cake!

i still occasionally play the civ 3 warhammer mod. those were simpler, non-3d times....

Oh, no - I'm not that anti-civ-4ist. I'm just against the graphic format of the game... and mainly so because I can't do jack to help the civ4-community :(

;)

Your civ3 models continue to amaze me. I really hope one day you change your mind and try your hand on nifs. I'd be happy to help with any trouble you might have with this format.

Amen to that :D

Eh.... thanks :)

Nifs? What are they?
My modelling skills are totally useless for civ4, because I use pov-ray to make my units. And pov-ray uses completely different 3d-method than most other programs. I won't go into further details, but I assure you - my models cannot be converted to civ4.... :(

We use Blender or 3DSMax to modle and Paint or GIMP to render them, then we export the files through a thing called a Nif Viewer (Nifs are the graphics files the the Civ 4 game reads i think)

whats pov ray?

Yes that seems unlikely. In order to mod civ4 you either have to use Blender(that's free btw) or 3DS max. Animations can only be done in max atm. But many existing animations can be reused if you keep similar bonestructures for new models(it's normally not necessary to create a new animation for a new biped, also some machines can use existing animations i.e. our empire steamtank uses the default animations for the tank in civ4).
Both programs have plugins available that can convert files to nifformat which is what the civengine(gamebryo) can read.

Edit: I have no idea how pov works btw. But as long as it involves modeling 3D objects your skills should be portable even if the fileformat isn't.

Here is another of my Buildings, The Celestial College (based on the image o got for the button)

its about 1300 polygons, but i figured its a big wonder so, what the hey :D (if its a problem i can chop off a couple of towers to cut the count by a couple of hundred.)

Terrific looking stuff P_L.
