I wonder if someone used them. Do they really make a sense?
AFAIK, AI is unable to use luxury slider, so luxury buildings would be some advantage for human player.
Happy faces management is extremely important in early game in order to avoid turning city laborers into entertainers. Usually in late game you already have temples, cathedrals and colloseums in core cities and if you're lucky enough - lots of lux resources.
I gonna try a thing in my next game. I replaced colosseum with city park, and renamed colosseum to stadium and move to electricity. Now stadium would increase luxury output. Also I added amphitheater with the same effect (but it would be cheaper), availible from philosophy or construction (have not decided yet).
Would AI ever build them? I think that luxury buildings should give more culture than temples or libraries, for balancing reasons. And it would also open more opportunities for cultural victory.
