since im not gonna get Civ3 for Mac till march, I'm buying civ2 for my mac (been playing civ2 on a PC but thats buggered now).

My question is, aside from multiplayer capability, what is the difference between the two? And which do you guys recommend I buy?

mge for mac comes with the Fantstic Worlds and Conflicts in Civilization add-ons.This is mainly for scenarios. All the tools of FW are included, although only the events editor is worth salt. This also means it can read events so you can play all the great scenarios. As long they are converted to mac readable formats :)
Of course it also has the multiplay option.Multiplay is highly recommended. No problems with cross platform MP games. As long as you have the v1.1.1 patch.

The MGE AI is very hostile.Much more so than original or classic civ2.Its not any harder, just have to defend a little more and have to do alot more to get any diplomacy happening. It also causes some problems with some scenarios.IE-I load the wwi scenario that comes with MGE as Britain and turn 2 I get sneak attacked by the Americans.

There are more unit slots in MGE.This allows you or scenario makers to have "extra" units in the game.

I am surprised if you can still find a copy of classic for any platform.

I would say you are better off with MGE.Even with the hostilty bug.

Ok then, so where will I find MGE? I've looked around all the usual suspects online, because i live in New Zealand and it basically takes ages for a store to order it in.

I can't find it online - any recommendations?
