C3C Frequently Asked Questions

I think the main purpose of this thread is to ask questions and hope for a quick answer (just like the "quick answers" thread in the Civ3 GD section). You shouldn't read through the whole shebang, just ask away...:)

Two questions (apologies if they've aready been asked--this is a huge thread).

1. How do you guys choose/upload icons to accompany your names in he box to the left of the text? Some of them are pretty cool.

2. I notice that once I get to the modern era and have dozens of cities, the AI constantly wants me to build either flaks or mobile SAMs--each time a city finishes producing it's most recent improvement or unit, I know that without fail, it'll start building flak or mobile SAM unless I change it. This gets pretty tedious. One game, I just gave in to the AI's little fetish as an experiment and let it keep creating these things--it practically never changed it's default even when every city had at least one of these. Anyone else notice this? Any way to change it?

Thanks for your input.

1. Check the forum rules. You need 300 posts or so first though.
2. Well, the computer always wants you to build useless crap. It's important to pay attention to what you're building anyway.

Ementio -I havent checked to see if it still works with Conquests but in Civ3 you could ask the production Queue to repete the previous unit. someone more experianced in the game might be able to tell you the key stroke shortcut for this

That is set in the preferences

In multiplayer, why i can't choose to raze or capture a city?
Seems that low population cities are razed and high population are captured. There is a way to select what i want? Sometimes i would prefer raze than capture it or viceversa.

@Ementio - As Shabbaman says you need 300 posts to upload a custom Avatar like his. You can, however; go to user cp / edit options / change avatar. There you can select one from those available. Like mine.:)

I have not come across this before – is it a newish feature or a bug?
I started a new game yesterday as the Celts under 1.20. I am the tech leader and the Incas are one tech behind me (military tradition) and they have a city size 13! We are nowhere near building hospitals, so I don’t understand how this can be.
Thanks

Thanks for the info, Turner_727! That will help deciding on which wonder to build.

@Turner_727
If they have shakespears theater, that city can expand beyond 12.

Thanks for that, you were quite right. I don’t know how I missed the change in Shakespeare’s theatre (I wonder when it changed – with Conquest perhaps?)
I think I might start to build it from now on.

Yes, it was in conquests. If you put this in your high-shield city, and start pre-building US, I've found I have a better chance of getting it from the extra production. Of course, this helps springboard to ToE & HD, as well. Now I don't have to waste four turns on Sanitation, and can pick it up after I start HD or trade for it. Its definately changed my gameplay.

A civ will only respawn if there is enough room on the same landmass for them to start again. It is always the same civ that was destroyed and they start with a bunch of units and at least 2 settlers. I think it has to be early in the game as well.

Thanks, watorrey. I wondered about that, too. But I usually turned off that option, it's just too much bother having all those 'dead' civs popping up again.
