And in another question, what happens when your treasury runs out of money?

One unit and one improvment go bye-bye. Not sure if someone's figured out which ones or not.

Hmm, good question. I would like to know that too. Or maybe it's just random?

How do I play as Austria?

In short, you have to replace one of the "standard" civilisation with Austria.
About how to do this, I would propose that you would have a look in the creation and customization subforum, where you will find hints and manuals, how to do all the necessary things.
Sorry about not being more specific, but my own attempts to do deep customization haven't gone that far, yet.

I did something rather foolish and I was hoping someone might be able to help me avoid a reinstall.

I have Conquests installed, and PTW was working fine when I wanted to step back to play a PTW game. However, I had a problem arise and I decided to install the latest PTW patch. Unnecessary and foolish I now realize. Now, the game looks for my PTW CD (which I do not have, I have Civ Vanilla) instead of accepting my Conquests CD. Does anyone know how I can get my game back to the original condition without reinstalling everything?

You could try (re)installing the latest C3C patch, that might overwrite the PTW exe. If not you will have to reinstall from scratch...

I think that at the very least, you will have to reinstall C3C from disc.

Is there any any any way to make the hall of fame function if you alter things in the editor? All I want to do is replace some uniques and possibly change some units. Nothing drastic that will affect gameplay that much. It's just stupid that the hall of fame doesn't record your score if you do that.

Come to my rescue and I'll be forever grateful.

Thanks.

That's not entirely accurate, Shabba.

Now, I've never done this myself, but Shabba may be right. However, I understand that you can 'turn on' the HoF function by making a backup of the civ3.bi* file, copying your scenario to civ3.bi*, and then playing the game. The civ3.bi* file is default rules.

Not my own experience, but what I've read on this topic:

there seems to be a checksum on the .bi*-files, so even if you do your changes on the original file, it will not save on the hof.

One of the least understandeable decisions of the developers, if I may state my opinion.

Hmmm....didn't know that. Good to know.

Personally, I don't see why they can't have a 'mod' column in the HoF.

Thanks for the replies.

So there haven't been any research on this to try and "fix" it? Or would that be totally impossible. It does get boring in the long run to only play the game without tiny modifications. Especially if you really like your scores to be recorder properly.

Raggamuffin,
note that you could edit your HOF file manually. Just remember the game specs and open the file Highscores.cv3 (should be in the root diretory of C3C; vanilla, PTW root dir, respectively - at least if you finished 1 game with default rules) and add a line there. I'm sorry, but I don't remember the exact coding of the numbers. A HOF entry could look like this:
Code:
Grille 20 8446 5 3 1
The columns reflect difficulty level, victory level and such stuff...
(IIRC, 1st column is character string for leader name, 3rd column is finishing score, 4th is difficulty - whereas coding goes for 0=chieftain, 1=warlord 2=...). Btw, this game was a UN victory in a PTW game, so maybe this helps to get the victory condition code.

There has been a post about the exact coding, so maybe anyone remembers it or you just try to search for it (or figure it out on your own...:)).

but be careful, since with C3C they even spoiled this... and so the records read wrong....
