C3C PBEM : Grognards - Napoleonic scenario-based PBEM

Battle Report:
Killed 1 Volt and 1 Cav at Limoges with no losses.
Killed 2 Volts and captured Belfort.

Attention all: The leader of the Spanish is an untrustworthy and backstabbing scoundrel!!!

After giving him 3 cities as bribery for him to eventually go to war with France, he never fired a single shot at them, and just signed an MPP with them and is now at war with the British.

Soooo....Loulong. Do you EVER complete a PBEM without stabbing someone in the back? I can't think of one...

Well, he did, it was Rivers of Blood. Just have to keep a careful watch and put all deals in writing. :)

IIRC, we had a solid deal in RoB and next turn after it expired, the game ended. But Loulong had a few units in my territory "travelling and going to attack Inca". They never came to the Inca and impaled themselves on the spears of Mayan silent hunters right on that last turn. But it was fun!

I also made peace with Spain and Spain had MPP with Russia. So, I attacked Russian city of Leipzig and we were at war again next turn.

@RJ: If you want to play a "decent" game without backstabbing and with strict rules, come to CDZ.

LeipzigRAD, try to use correct spelling!

New turn started

@ RJ : yes, I will NEVER backstab you in CeD (he is Persia and I am Macedonia lol).
I think some countries in Grognards could find me trustworthy (that strategy was advised by wwhill as the first French player because you threatened to autoraze your Portuguese cities). But is it my fault if you are eating France alive and threatening to win over everything soon ? Spain is a poor lonely country and must do its best to survive in this world of powerful monsters. If we can't rely on force, we must use some cunning. But due to the fact war became effective before my turn, I did not attack you at all this turn. Consider this a formal declaration of war. At least you know I did not support France with techs, gold or resources during that time. A bargain I'd say ;-)
And I have NOT backstabbed you in AoD, RoR, water (BTW can you send me a mail with the ongoing deals you had with Tweedledee), Seafaring....

@ Akots : why "decent" ? I told everyone at the beginning this scenario is indeed THE scenario for changes of alliances, treachery,... Even the computer breaks military treaties and reverse alliances, can't we humans be a bit more cunning.
And about RoB I went down to attack the Incas then because of the absence of RoP my troops were so slow that when they arrived there the geopolitical situation had changed drastically and you were the one on top (and at an alarming speed) so I just had to go back and tried to declare when I was out of your territory so no backstabbing at all (at least in my mind !).
About peace between Spain and Austria. the pb is when you get the diplomatic screen you haven't had the chance of looking at the situation so I just thought since you knew Russia and I had an MPP you had made peace with Russia before. Since you hadn't it is perfectly normal (and LOYAL) I redeclare when you attack my ally.

@Loulong: I just get more fun from the game when I try to hold to my word. That way you can see if you were able to design the human diplo in the right way or in the wrong way. IMO, in most cases it turns out just fine. But I'm rather tolerant to backstabbing. It is fun also. :)

And whatever Austria or Spain do in this game, we are obviously unable to win.

First, there is backstabbing and backstabbing.

If you ally secretly with some countries, and plan from the start to lure your ennemy in a trap, then it's not really backstabbing. If you change side right in the middle of the game, then it's backstabbing.

For the moment, it seems the alliances have been relatively trustworthy in fact.

And Akots, you can still win. You just have to invade all of English, Russian and Ottomans cities. It should be enough.

British Offensive stalls outside of Lyons. Stiff French resistence encountered! It seems that loser Napoleon has finally found some backbone (and tons of conscripted French farmboys!) :crazyeye:
Limoges fell fairly easily though!
The British are still confused about Russia though. Every month for the last 2 years, they have been offering Peace, only to declare war against us the next day because of some idiotic Mutual Protection Pack they signed with France a long time ago??? Are they just confused, or not trustworthy in their protestations of peace towards Britain?

 English must be completely out of their minds trying to make peace with Russia. I suggest they make RoP also and let a dozen cossacks to house in the suburbs of London. :)

Turn sent to Eliit. Brave Austrian Hussars came to aid to our British allies and captured the city of Lyons from the French usurper. Big party in Vienna!
