C3C PBEM: "Smuts" - the Boer War scenario-based PBEM

Well, they normally appear with any tech, or don't they ? Do you mean you cannot see any on the map ?

BTW your strategy was indeed pretty clever but not realistic and leaning on the edge of ...

the edge of AI exploitation I suppose..

I just don't know how to get gold mines and what they do - is it like a treasure, and what do you need to build to get it?

Nothing of the sort. Gold is just a luxury which gives a lot of trade (much more than in the standard game). No treasure to carry however, the scenario is very straightforward.

You mean that tiles with gold on them yield a lot of cash?

The scenario does seem very simple compared to the other two we've played.. once you set up a Reconquista pbem let me know :)

Mafeking captured (killed cannon and militia, lost cavalry)
Killed retreating col inf nearby, also lost cavalry.

Near Colesburg : killed col inf

Had the pleasant surprise of killing a col infantry company with a regular cavalry (did not get promoted though) near Pietersburg. British hopes from the North are all but dead.

The stupid Portuguese lost 1 company of infantry. They don't belong here and I hope we made that clear. They should NOT have followed British advice...

Well, 'someone' had the Germans declare war on me and meanwhile the Zulu were blocking an important road, so I had to clear them out of the way.. I'm willing to make peace again, if you stay out of my territory! I even lost a Bengal cavalry against one of those impi.

Are you supposed to be able to draft? It says militias can be drafted, but I see no button for drafting..

My outflank tactic against the British failed because my so called 'ally' decided to attack me...

???? If you fight among yourselves, that's fine with me :-)))

The tech : Settlements allow conscription. Besides there still is the population issue.

Siege at Fort Kimberley is ineffective (seems I am going to reproduce history there).

Middleburg has fallen and a road to Capetown has been cut.

The Zulus strangely used the Great Impi at home, probably chasing after women... We lost a cavalry but our cavalry charge dispersed it. We are experienced in dealing with Zulus !

If someone wants to ally with the Brits it might be a good idea to send an alliance proposal or something before blocking strategically important roads with millitary units! Since you blocked that road I couldn't help you out, so you really shot yourself in the foot. I've sent a peace offer, though.

Killed two Boers near Zululand and a cavalry that cut a road.. but lost 2 English cavalry and an infantry, really rotten rng luck.

What settlements allow conscription? I'm not sure what you mean.. some towns allow and some towns don't? Would be nice to know up front.

If I don't have it at startup it doesn't really matter since it's at the beginning I really need to defend all those remote undefended cities.. Getting reinforcements is incredibly slow with only two movements and all those river penalties.

I don't understand how you could kill the natives and then get that far away with only two movement points..?

Anyway, that other African tribe keeps getting angry with England, they're really annoying. And that's about all that happened here ;)

Go Zulu!
