Somewhere North of Noumea

(the damn AI erases view from area. We should be able to see spots of eliminated units!)

In Northern China 2 guerilla units killed, killed infantry and captured bunker (lost infantry) roads bombed across the country.

Captured Mandalay and bombarded 2 roads in Malaysia.

North of the Philippines and near Rabaul subs revealed their position by sinking destroyers, only to be pounced on by nearby battleships.

What Nationality were the DD's? Do you remember? If you could give names (in the future) it would be great for the history record!

One more thing: what does "pounced on" mean? Can you explain? I don't understand the meaning.

EDIT: I now realize I might got it all wrong - the sunk submarines were Allied Subs or Jap I-boats?

.

I should have said that Allied subs sank two of my destroyers when I tried to move into their tile.

"pounced on" is the same as leap onto, tackle or attack.

so anyway.

Near Gudalcanl, the only available fleet battle a Japanese Crusier near Iron Bottom. The Japanese CA was bad damanged but manage to sink the attacking Allied CA.

Near Southern China, The Burma Invasion force was pounded by some small artilleryt and bombers causing some damange.
Near Northern China, a evcuation order was give to abandon the city as superior and numerious Japanese infantry close in. However in the confusion, two workers were killed when two guerilla slip past the guard and dealt the final blow.

She left the "luck" factor out of her speech.

Despite Hirohito’s mother-in-law following him through the palace complaining that he doesn’t feed his daughter or his dog enough, and even though he had to drive his father-in-law to the hardware store twice and help repair every squeaky hinge in the imperial residence, he still found time to:

Bomb the barracks at Hangkow, destroy the fortress on the border and kill two Mg battalions and an Infantry unit.

Bomb a road near Chunking even though one of our bombers was shot down.

Kill the MG Battalion left behind when Kunming fell.

Kill the Commonwealth Guerilla that crossed the border from Bhuket.

Destroy the Coastal Fortress in Singapore.

Capture Kudat in Borneo, and Davao in the Philippines.

And sink the DD Russell near Pearl Harbor.

While U.S. sub was sink near pearl harbor however a CA than come and finish the sub off.

In China, the situation looks grim, the bombing had completely wreck China economy and military and they are essentially sitting ducks. as city after city falls.

Air strikes damaged and destroyed grounded air units. One attacking Allied fighter was shot down by a Zero.

SE of Guadacanal

By the end of turn5, I calculate the following naval losses:
Japan Losses
3 CV's, 1 BB, 1 CA, 3 DD's, 6 I-boats, 4 Transports.
Allied Losses
0 CV's, 2 BB's, 3 CA's, 3 DD's, 9 Subs, 0 Transports.

At sea a sub was sunk just south of Palau as was DD Electra near Guadalcanal. Japanese marines then overwhelmed the defenders and captured the airfield.

US.
The Sub who just sank the CV last turn was evacuating the area when it spot another one. however it was protected by 4 destroyers. After a discussion, the crew decides to risk it and attack the CV. THe sub was damaged but it manage to sank the CV. The Sub than evacuated the general area.

China,
Everything looks grim as soldiers blow up bridges and road to slow defence. But they did not do much since the Japanese had done so already.
