C3C PBEM - WW2 Global

It is ok by me...Maybe we could even offer the spot to Gnarfflinger or post for a replacement unless we already have one in line... Until we have something for sure though, I vote that Dazz play both the turns...of course, no trading cities except after they have first been captured by the Axis!

France played and sent ... no combat to report ( I suspect BK will have plenty of combat to report on his turn though ).

Perkins sure had some strange ideas ... like 40 workers ALL IN AFRICA, none in Europe to repair the crippled road network ... those workers that weren't FORTIFIED IN CITIES were building, of all things, RAILROADS ... IN AFRICA. Lots of African towns building workers needlessly, sometimes when the Population was 1 and an increase was like 15-19 turns away with the worker on 1 turn to complete ... the entire Fleet fortified in Ports

That is kind of pointless...especially since all of France is seperated right now...

1939 Week 47

Success in Southern France and we now wait a possible French of British counter-attack.

Lyon:
-Bombardment by 3 Art, 3 Me109s & 2 Heinkel 111s. Attack by 3 German Inf & 2 Panz 3 def. 3 Fr Inf, 1 Garrison & 1 Flak (French) with no German Losses.

Bordeaux:
-Bombardment by 9 Art and attack by 5 German Inf, 1 Panz 3, 1 Panz 2, 1 Motor Inf def. 3 Special Forces, 1 Motorized Inf, 1 Tank, 1 Garrison & 1 Cav (French). Only German ground losses was 1 German Inf.

Marseille:
-Bombardment by 3 Art and attacks by 1st Army, 2nd Army, 1 Motor Inf & 2 German Inf def. 1 Special Forces, 3 Tanks, 1 Flak & 1 Cav (French).

In air raids against Bordeaux and Marseilles, British Interceptors downed 2 Heinkel 111s, 1 Ju 87B & 1 Ju 88. Strategy then switched to bombing the nearest British city of Biboa and resulted in the destruction of a British Fighter on the runway as well as damage to others.

4 Bombers destroyed roads and railroads around Cairo.

2 U-Boats dest. 1 Mine Layer & 1 Destroyer (British) in near Norway.

4 Destroyers made a futile attack against a British Battleship in the Red Sea.

The Soviet Socialist Republic of Jelloians wish to report victories over the orange (neutral) masses with the capture of Izmir, Adana, and Antalya.
Passing serve to China

I wouldn't be so sure of France falling ... not yet, anyway ..........

As for Africa, that is what I thought BUT ... if you had kept a couple of workers in Europe constantly repairing the smashed roads, you could have operated a rolling defence - as it is with no roads at all and virtually your entire Army in Paris (with a movement of 1 for the most part) you were consigning your southern cities to automatic defeat.

Also, why nearly all your workers building Rails ? Roco has made railroads very time consuming for a reason ... to prevent people doing what you were doing. Those workers would have been much better used by mining where possible and irrigating where mining wasn't feasible in order to build Africa up for you.

You could also have MOBILISED for war ..............

Anyway, enough Perkins bashing :D

Seriously though, I really think you could have done things a bit different, but then hindsight is wonderful ..... what you need to remember is this isn't single player where you build the largest stack the World has ever witnessed and go stomping on the World. In PBEM, a good defensive player can hand out a whole lot of hurting to the attacker ... just ask BK - he knows all about that , don't you BK ;) :D

Now that you have posted again, do you want to come back ? You were always fast with the turns and are more than welcome to return .......... just don't take my critiscism personally - just trying to offer advice really. You could probably criticise me in more ways than one.

Learning from the strategies of other players is one of my favorite things when dealing with PBEMs... Dazz is right...just having a stack of doom isn't always enough against a human...especially when there is a mutual agreement to not raze any cities. His comments were definitely not personal as Dazz and Lou Long often commented on my strategies in WW1...I think they have helped, but I still am lacking as far as my naval strategy is concerned (maybe it has something to do with playing as Germany?).

Nothing to report.

In defense of Perkins-mah... He's playing it almost exactly like I would be playing it. Declaring mobilization would simply kill any chance he would have in developing a new "core" in Africa for the long haul. The French desperately need to build up infrastructure somewhere else, and they can't if they were mobilized. Considering that (it sounds like) you have the Axis on their heels in Africa, I would also be churning out workers there. Although I would not start working on rails until after every square that is being worked has some basic improvements, he would need rails eventually. I also disagree about mainland France having a chance. It will eventually fall...the Germans have too many advantages at this stage of the game, even if they got slapped pretty hard a few turns back.

I am not a big fan of mobilization, especially in a locked war scenario. It is far too limiting. Hell, even in the WW2 Pacific scenario Contest, I didn't mobilize a single faction in both of my round 1 games!

Played and sent to Eric.

I also am wondering what Dazz has in those transports in the Bay of Biscay (I'm calling that the right name?) so I Biboa is free for the taking because I suspect an amphibious counter-attack...but I could be wrong.

Combat this turn occurred mainly against Biboa:
-3 Me109s, 2 Ju 87Bs, 2 Heinkel 111s & 1 Dornier bombard and destroy a British fighter and infantry. City captured by a Panz 3.

French N. Africa road to oil by Salah is destroyed.

Mut, in British held Egypt saw 6 Bombers destroy roads around it as well as 2 citizens.

That was all...awaiting your move Dazz...

It JUST showed up in my inbox in the last half hour. I'm sorry for the hold up. I should be able to play in a halfhour to an hour.
