Possible Old Mod Reuploads

This makes me wonder if my old mod, Goldfladh's Altered Tech Tree Mod, still lives out there somewhere. Probably not. It wasn't very good and I had no idea what I was doing and I don't think anybody ever played it, but it was there.

Does anyone have the files for Anno Domini - Different Dawn? The restored link is only to a patch or something (only 1 mb).

Hi! Great work by everyone here. It's sad that I am this late to find the thread.

Anyways, does anybody still have a copy of the balancer mod (reloaded)? @Virote_Considon You said that you did have it, but that was a few years ago 😬.

Glad if anyone responds 🙃

Hi guys,

Unfortunately I cannot get these files at the moment - my harddrives they were on and backed up to both failed. I may have them on an even older harddrive (we're talking 20 years here), but I'm not going to risk even plugging it in to nose around until I've got a solid enough place to back them up to.

I'd like to contribute, although I don't have any old lost files stored locally. I can devote time to uploading resources stored here to another site, like moddb. Is moddb still preferred? I know of nexusmods (who recently sold to a company, future may be less certain) and gamebanana (don't know much about these folks, just used to dl CS maps here). My summer starts after the July 4th holiday here and I can start then.

Oh okay, that's not very good. Thanks for answering though!

I would also gladly help with some sort of uploading project, but I don't really have any mods of my own. Just reach out if some assistance is needed, whatever that could be. I work during weekdays but I can surely still devote some time, if needed.

I have a 'spiel' I give to modders about the best hosting options.. example here:
https://forums.civfanatics.com/threads/downfall-post-apocalyptic-mod.652989/post-15756293

For individual mod uploads then yes ModDB and Nexus are the best free options Eg here's the ModDB page I made for Drift's Civ3 Master of Mana..
https://www.moddb.com/mods/master-of-myrror

However what many don't know is that Internet Archive is quite good for mod hosting too. Eg here's my backup of the Civ3 Star Trek mod plus it's formerly long lost music pack..
https://archive.org/details/star-trek-civ3-mod-v0.9.0-beta

However creating individual mod pages like I did for those above and all the ones in my Civ2 preservation project is a lot of work (gotta write descriptions and provide pictures etc) and also a bit iffy when you don't have the authors permission (although Internet archive allows you to name the author instead of yourself which is cool). So if we were to upload a bulk collection zip of mods it'd be much easier (eg just slap up there zips of the big collections from @Virote_Considon and @KingArthur , the later of which I and I think @Quintillus have copies of) then Internet Archive is probably the best option for that.

For example here's some bulk collections of Civ2 mods I uploaded there based of either old website collections or donor collections..
https://archive.org/details/apolyton-civ2-downloads-backup
https://archive.org/details/dsquared-civ2-collection
https://archive.org/details/metro-polis-civ-2-collection

What's cool is that..
1. Internet Archive creates a bonus torrent link as well so that fans can help them host and share.
2. They also allow you to view inside the archive you uploaded allowing people to check if a particular mod they're after is in there. Example..
https://ia601703.us.archive.org/vie...d-civ2-collection/DSquared_Civ2_Collection.7z

I remember @unartis , @Node60 , and PaGe at German forums have big Civ3 collections and have helped me in the past. Maybe they might be willing to do bulk donation. If folks look in the expandable "SUPER COLLECTION BACKUPS" area of my Civ2 preservation project you'll see I named the collections after their donors to honour them unless they requested anonymity.

As previously mentioned we could call this preservation gathering of collections for public use 'The Great Library Reborn' in honour of @Ozymandias .
