C3C PBEM : "Zama2" - Rise of Rome scenario-based PBEM

The 100 year siege of Syracuse is over.

In the final battle at the walls our legions slaughtered 3 spears with the loss of one legion.

All Rome rejoices in the glorious victory over Carthage.

The citizens of Syracuse welcomed the conquering heros in the streets with crys of thanks and showers of rose petals.

HAIL CEASOR !

Sorry, I was on a short, 3 day trip that basically turned into 6, without internet access for most of it. I have sent the turn on.

The Seige of Syracuse was much shorter this time around. An elephant charged into the walls and saw that there was an army defending. The brave elephant took off 4 or 5 hitpoints before becoming wastebaskets for the wealthy Roman Occupiers. The Army had a shortage of hitpoints, so Hannibal decided to charge into the fray as well. Hannibal continued his streak of dominance over the roman legions, and slaughtered the Roman army, liberated two catapults, and retook Syracuse.
On the IBT: The Goths signed the Celts in against the Romans. The Roman fortunes are definitly in Dire Straights. I hope for their sakes they really are "The Sultans of Swing."

This turn I captured Messana (sicily) From the Romans killing a garrison, and 3 or 4 legions. I lost nothing in Sicily as Hannibal was present. :)
I lost an elephant in gual making an attack on a city, killing nothing.

No combat this turn, as it was a mostly healing and moving turn. Expect Hannibal to charge out of the mists once more to terrorize the evil Roman Occupiers.

 Time to party like it's 199! (BC, that is).

I just got this in my inbox last night. I am playing now.

I sunk a Roman galley, and since Rome made peace with the Goths and it didn't fit my long term strategic plan, I paid the Goths to fight Rome again.

I attacked Hannibal but lost one unit. Friggin Elephants.

No other Carth battles ... too busy fighting the celts and goths who are now crowding the borders to my north.

In the epic battle for Croton, Roman legions repel Hannibals elephant scorge and take the advantage.

Hannibal appears to have attacked in the previous turn and rumours abound about his death on the battle field ? He has either died or run away.

During the Roman counter attack we kill 2 elephants as they try to depart Roman shores and we capture one catapult left idling outside the walls. It is a total rout.

Meanwhile on the island of Corsica we capture a worker and killed a spear near Olbia.

Roman forces are just as effective taking the battle to the Celts and Goths who have foolishly decided to align with Carths.

It is a good year in the Roman empire.

A Phyrric Victory!
Three Heavy Cav attack three defending Mercs at Tarsus, and although one is near death, the battle is won by the leadership of Phyrrus, who forms an army of Heavy Cav and kills the remaining spearman, taking the town.

Hey guys. I am having some problems here. When I play my turns, my computer will heat up and lock up before the end of the turn. I can play c3c for hours and not lock up. Any clues?
Plus preserve random seed is not on, making it kind of annoying that the battle changes each time. I am having real problems with this turn in particular. I will try again in the morning.

It is looking bad for Rome

The overwhelming defeat of several units near Croton in the previous turn has caused all of Rome to cry out in anguish. Citizens are rioting in the streets calling for the head of WarningU2. Oh the woe. Oh the anguish. Very little stands between advancing Hannibal and Rome itself.

To make matters worse the Goths have captured the Alpine city of Segusio. They demanded much money for peace that was declined.

Battle Report
I wounded an elephant (I better watch out now) near Croton as I retook the hill.
I lost a garrison near Segursio in a feeble attempt to recapture.

My power supply appears fine. I played the game by opening my case and putting a fan fo the motherboard. Not the best solution, but it will work for the time being.
