I guess we'll have to wait for Monday for the picture, but I opened the game to find that Persia is no more.... Their last three cities are only smoking ruins. Macedonians breath a sigh of relief at the prospect of peace and prosperity after so many years of continous warfare! :)

Well there's the picture. As you can see i had 0 defense left:(

It would seem that every stand i made was utterly defeated. The good news i sopose was i knew where his line of fire was headed to make my defensive stands.

Good game all. Learned alot in the first time as Persia.

*note* i wasn't building the GL. It just happened to pop up after i finished a unit when i retired ;)

You definitely put up some fierce stands, there were several cities that were really tough to crack. Catapults helped, but I could never get enough of them together to really keep rolling, especially when you started cutting roads. Giving that city to Egypt was a good move too, that stalled me 3-4 turns since I had to go off-road. You also forced me to keep my offensive in one group, until the very end, I couldn't afford to split into two axis, which I generally prefer to keep the defender off balance.

BTW, where did you get that grid on your world map? I haven't seen that before.

Well i am more of a MP player and it helps to have a little more data then NW cornor:P

Here is the civfanatics link:

Well i'm glad I was able to make it somewhat interesting for you Justus:)

BTW i was wondering, did you contact Egypt and make a right of passage agreement? Since you seemed to have better alliances with my neighbors since you stole all my friends:P

After you gave the city to Egypt, I did the Right of Passage, but the city still blocked my movement for a couple turns, and I had to go off the road. Diplomacy with the AI is definitely important in this one also, I try to make sure I am selling (even at 1gpt) multiple resources/luxuries to the AI on my borders, so they are harder to turn against me. I did try to keep it fair, I only allied with one at a time against you! After I fought back the Scythian's early wave, I made peace with them, so that when you made peace with Egypt, I could buy Scythia in against you from the north.

Thanks for the link, that is a neat tool, especially for random map games. (Unfortunately, I don't have time for new games right now...)

The tool is especially valuable in multi player team play.

Roman Babble .... 125 AD

The state of them empire is bad

To the north the Celts are overrunning my defenceless cities. Most of the citizens have left and those who haven't are greasing their thighs hoping to provide the warriors entertainment. :mischief:

zama2_2_125.jpg

In the south we drove hannibal to red line throwing all our troops into the fight but we were unable to beat the demon and consequently Tarentum will fall next turn. Hannibal tricked me into thinking he was vunerable but in effect I lost 4 units against him when he was red lined.

In another battle for Genua ... a similar situation with approaching war elephants ... we attacked with everything we had but only wounded the beasts and their bellows now cause the poorly defended inhabitants to cower. Those that have not hid are being sequestered to man the walls with sticks and stones. Prospects are not good.

Carth galleys now rule the coast and cruise up and down picking their next landing spot. All Rome is in riot and it beating on Ceasors closed doors to come out and face his accusors. He is a worthless leader.

CEASOR IS DEAD

In the night he did the noble thing and offed himself. All Rome rejoices and is putting out the red carpet for their conquering heros - whether thats Carths, Celts, Goths or the new Egyptians that just showed up on our shores. They offered peace and wanted money ... the new pretendor to the throne - someone named WarningU2 ... gave them Neapolis. Neapolians are actually happy in not being trampled by the Carth elephants. At least it stems the Carth beasts marching up Italy's boot.

Roman Empire On Its Death Bed - 120 BC

zama2_110bc.jpg

The empire shrinks city by city but the new pretender that replaced Ceasor has directed it's legions well and drove off an attack on the coastal city on the Adriatic Sea - killed an elephant and forced another to retreat - mortally wounded. It looks like the surprise ceding of Neapolis to the Egpytians has funelled the advance into a more manageable area. Hannibal looks like he is ready for a fight though and will be at the front next turn.

Hordes of Celts are coming from the north. Rome's attempts to contact them were rejected ... they smell blood. Even a lone garrison that was going to be evacuated was caught up to and butchered.

In Rome citizens are selling up everything, drinking, fornicating and gambling the night away. The scent of old sex permeates the night air and sickens it.

Perhaps the Celts will take a liking to Persia now ?

A wierd error. This has not happened before. I get a popup from XP that says the save is corrupted. Any help guys?

Strange. You probably already thought of this, but have you installed/uninstalled any mods lately? Otherwise I don't know unless you could try to recopy that file from your CD to that folder, if it somehow got corrupted. I don't know why XP would say the save is corrupted, though? Are you able to re-load previous turns?

You can try also copying that file from the PTW directory and putting it in the conquests ... just to see if that gets by it ... just an idea.

Just got back into town. My mouse at home has just died, and it needs replacing before I can fully utilize my computer again. I am not willing to call the game, I want to play it out. Expect more updates after I get stuff fixed.

Got the mouse fixed.
I loaded the previous turn, and it worked just find.
Problem still with the last turn I got.

The next turn:
Rome helped me finanace some military improvements in my odd shaped little empire. Justus resending a replayed turn really helped.

Rome is now OCC'ing it. Carthaginian generals are still atempting to guess what to do next.

It's the same old song and dance,
You're askin' me for a second chance.
I don't care, baby, what you say,
All I wanna do is gotta get away.

Been too many times callin' out your name,
You promised me, but you never came.
Was it, baby, all a game to you? Yeah.
After all the things that I've done for you,
Say your love, your love, could not be true.
I don't need nobody like you.

Chorus:
So turn out the lights, the party's over.
Turn out the lights, the party's over for you.
This time is the last time, never be a next time.
Tonight I wanna dance to a brand new tune.

You know, it took so long for me to realize
You got a cheatin' heart full of dirty lies.
Now listen baby, I got news for you.
Now don't cha come knockin' on my door.
'Cause I don't want your love no more.
I don't need nobody like you.

Chorus:
So turn out the lights, (lights out) the party's over.
Turn out the lights, (lights out) the party's over for you.
This time is the last time, never be a next time.
Tonight I wanna dance to rock and roll.

I guess it must-a been you were so caught up
That you didn't even notice we were fallin apart.
Now you played the game, now you play the fool.
I don't need nobody like you.
I don't want it. I don't need it.
No, no, nobody like you. All I got to say.

Chorus:
So turn out the lights, (lights out) the party's over.
Turn out the lights, (lights out) the party's over for you.
This time is the last time, never be a next time.
Turn out the lights, the party's over.
Turn out the lights.
Turn out the lights. (turn out the lights)
Turn out the lights, the party's over.
Turn out the lights. (turn out the lights)
Turn out the lights, (lights out) the party's over.
Turn out the lights, the party's over. Yeah.

This little song is the culmination of the Roman Empire.
No disrespect, I have been getting way too much inspiration from this thread.
