C3C Redux: Six months with no patch.

Changelogs never contain every little fix. They are a summary.

They're supposed to summarize the important stuff.

...like the bug fixes.

The changelog I read (hopefully incomplete) reads, essentially:

Option to disable espionage. Oops, our bad.

Machine guns now have a chance to shoot down stealth-bomber-airships-of-doom. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH.

Culture is visible now on buildings.

**

I fail to see what took 6 months in this patch when Bhur's patch is more complete (albeit with espionage left in, which I'm fine with.)

...especially since this patch's changelog is dated May 1st.

Edit: I am now reading teh *full* changelog.

One thing jumps right out at me: Global warming has been tweaked to suck even harder, since tehre is no way to combat pollution in game.

In that I have to agree.... I was ( and am ) very vocal against the Bh change that prevented AI from accepting missionaries under theo ( IMHO it is more a problem of the AI deciding about the pros vs cons then anything else... a AI may want to be save from a war vs heatens or to get AP hammers ).....

But the last discussions that were made in Bh thread should be read by Firaxians, because most likely they didn't fixed the closeness algorythim ( that is clearly broken )

Don't forget that QA and such requires a significant delay between "final, final, final changes" and ship ... check out the 'build date' in advanced options. May 20th for the D2D version... so any discussion beyond there is irrelevant to this patch ;)

I would assume the devs read the forums. Several of the lead programmers came from the fan sites, after all... they just don't necessarily have time to get embroiled into arguments ;)

Started new MP LAN game tonight. So far I'm happy. Still early in the game but so far so good. Will play more tomorrow.

Actually you can, it says Building Pollution and that can be totally eliminated with Recycling centers... and Forests (and Jungles) can be regrown... so it is actually possible to stop Global Warming. (even Nuke global Warming if that is still in... just build preserves, nothing but Preserves and cover the World with Jungles and Forests... and the deserts and tundra and peaks)

Although I do have to say it is incredibly stupid for a company to make a patch and include a change log that doesn't include the changes they made

if I want a 'change summary' then have a 'change summary'. The fact is if the company bothered to document the changes to my game, they should let me know. (although civ has generally horrible documentation for a game... good for a computer game, but terrible for a game)

I've been a hater on Firaxis for the lack of patch-dom for some time. I am happy to see a new patch, but a little concerned about the lack of some major issue fixes-- multiplayer OOS, being the most glaring, and the reports of no war weariness for AI player (frightening and ridiculous if true).

We'll have to see, right now I'm currently jubilant on the patch even being out and being more than just a few bug fixes

Having played it it's quite good and has fixed something that really irked me - when you go into anarchy you no longer have something like "Construction - 9999 turns" - rather "Construction - [X turns as if you weren't in anarchy and producing science beakers normally]".

The only problems seem to come from me using the BUG mod and some of the TXT_KEY bits being visible rather than what it should say. But I'm sure there'll be a fix for that asap.

I would prefer a new SMAC, but Firaxis decided that SMAC didn't existed ( when they asked for beta testers a few weeks ago they had forgot to put it in the games where to choose from as you favourite Sid Meier's game.... and SMAC was a flag game of Firaxis in his days :( ).

They didn't forget it, it's just not an option for Firaxis as EA holds the rights to the title. And with EA's current take-over attempts of Take-Two, there's no way they would simply sell off the rights to it.
