Spain in the Napolonic scenario. Britain and Portugal trade-embargoed me for no apparent reason (was it a alliance request I denied?), so I invaded Portgual. The Brits, of course, got uptight about that, so I took over Giltrabar, which was harming my privateer fleets I was using to sink British troop transports inbound for France.

BTW, in one of the designer diaries, it claimed that the Mesopotamia scenario had an all-new 'Companion Infantry'. Is there really a new unit for this, or did they use the Hoplite?

I think they said "All- new units" Ancient cavalry and companion infantry.

Yes, but I was getting worried since no one had mentioned it. I hope he was right!

I was hoping I could replace the Swordsman with a phalanx-style "Heavy Spearman" unit. Seems to make a little more sense to me.

Are horse archer and crossbowman scenario units only ? (albeit greatly appreciated in any case ) ?

Stonesfan- I never did get around to researching iron working. I beelined for wonder techs. I think it's new, though.

Colonel Kraken has confirmed that the Companion Infantry is not new. It uses the Legionary graphic.

Oh. I think the Tyrian Guard (Phonecian UU) is new, though. I'll try to get a picture the next time my computer is working- probably tomorrow.

Could somebody possible post what the Dromon's combat animation is? Does it shoot Greek fire in the animation. And can somebody post a pick of an ancient cavalry in a game (not the civilopeda icon), as I have not seen it, and it will be the Cataphract in the next patch (according to Gobi Bear).\

The "Tyrian Guard" is merely the Numidean Mercenary and the Phoenicians are represented by Carthage.

I assume C3C is more easily mod-able, thus allowing graphical artists of - say CFC - to create new improved imagery of the units and leaders of those new civs that use existing unit- and leader files, like the Tyrian Guard in CK's post above.
IIRC - the rome scenario in mmmm....vanilla Civ2 was made from standard gfx -> units and emmissary animations of the standard civs.
Given the limitation of a single cd in terms of space, I think Firaxis, BA and Atari are well justified to not include all (though I havent heard/read too many complaints to the graphical presentation of C3C yet)

Oh, i definately understand why they couldn't make more units. It's not like we're mad at them(at least I'm not) for not doing special art for every single unit. But that sure would have been a treat!

One thing is for sure, modders can NEVER have enough units!

If they gave all the leaders attack anims, which I think they did, I will be extremely happy, and I would forgive them for any other unit they left out!
