vampirism gives + strenght and + heal rate, a promo auric would certainly like to have ;)


i know the strenght isn't great, but the healing rate is.
 
Well that's only 6 strength for Auric, who is hopeless in combat anyway. High hitters need critical strikes to be effective, otherwise goblins hurt them too much.
 
they are not undead, but they do fear light ( although it only makes them weaker, it does not destroy them IIRC ) . that's because the first unfortunate victim of Alexis and Flauros was a disciple of Lugus, and the sun god got kinda angry at vampires for that :D

If you mean first strikes, then you're right. They make a huge difference in a superior unit's ability to win a fight undamaged.
 
Best vampire would probably be a captured Eurabatres, though I'm not sure vampirism breaks through his magic immunity. Infinite easy promotions, 24 base strength, ability to move through impassable terrain. Steal some items from other heroes like Hyborem and you get a unit that can kill Auric without Godslayer quite handily. Actually, it could pretty much kill everything. Anyway, if anyone wants to try capturing a dragon and vamping a dragon NATURALLY (no wb cheating) that would be great. I've been trying myself, but its really quite hard to do.

Wait, you can read from the Grimoire?

Also, I have only ever seen Gurid once. Come to think of it, I've only seen leviathan and that pig riding guys once too.
Never even built one of the dragons... :(

I will have to try out that vampiric Eidolons thing. Even got a game going where that would work quite well. :D

Who needs vampirism or equipment when Eurabatres with only two strength promotions, probably gotten from free xp by that point in the game, is already stronger than Auric...

Yeah, if you get a unit to pick up the Grimoire then that unit is then able to read from it, for a random spell effect. It is best to get a cheap unit to read from it though, as it does have a chance of killing the caster...
 
I once captured Gurid and used him to attack Acheron: King Kong vs. Godzilla!
