bleargh!
is this straight after you de-hibernate, or some time after?

try shutting down if that means you don't get the problem. it might just take time to re-load the program (as hibernate puts all the memory onto the hard drive, rather than the ram if memory serves correctly).

I've been hibernating for the past week or so, and this is the first time it's happened. But now it's gone  The menus show up fine now.

Does hibernating do anything bad?

I don't know about other OS:s than windows, but in my experience, not restarting the computer regularly, usually means it will act weird after a while... From the little I know, Linux (Unix?) on the other hand is constructed so you won't have to restart as often.

nah. From what i recall, it puts all of the stuff stored on RAM into the hard drive, as secondary memory (perfectly normal). Just on de-hibernation it might take a while to recall all the stuff from memory. From the sounds of your problem it has nothing to do with this. Sometimes things just stuff up. If it only happens once, then don't worry about it. If it is a recurring problem, come back and tell us more.

Replace UNIX/Linux by "any other OS" and you're absolutely right.

I guess you're right. I really should go through all the hassle of installing linux on one of our good computers sometime. As long as Opera and internet work, I'd probably get used to it quick.
