Can artilery kill ?

At least bombers can kill. I am not 100% sure about artillery, since I have never noticed any target to die by their bombardment.

Artillery does not have "lethal bombardment" (you can see if unit has from Civilopedia IIRC).

Koreas Unique unit, Ha'wcha (similar name) has Lethal bombardment, this UU replaces cannon, so one "Artillery unit" has lethal bombardment.

Also Bombers have lethal bombardment.

Byzan UU, (naval-unit) has lethal Sea bombardment, it can bomb things on land, but can't kill them. It can bomb ships and kill those tho.

Go into the editor, and turn on custom rules. Then click on the Edit Rules menu option. Units tab, and find the arty units, and click on the lethal bombardment options.

I don't know... you could maybe bombard bombers or fighters inside of cities or on aircraft carriers. Alright, I half meant that as a joke anyways.

Ships can bombard aircraft in cities. I'm pretty sure that I have a save in which a battleship of mine bombarded a city and killed a plane. I'll see if I can dig it up.

Edited to attach the save: It's been a long time since I looked at this save, but I very surprised to discover that a battleship could kill a plane on the ground. (Which is why I kept it.) It's late, so I'm not going to try to recreate the turn tonight. I did look at the save in CA2, though, and from what I recall, I bombarded Inch'on or Namp'o (probably Inch'on) with a battleship and I saw a fighter die when I did.

That only happens in Conquests, tho. I believe it was actually added in one of the later patches.

You can also hit air units in cities (though not in airfields or carriers) with bombers, and in fact I find this to be the single most effective way of reducing enemy airpower... in the few games I let them get that far...

that is true you can dispose of enemy air craft in a city with any bombardment method at your disposal. Though thus far artillery and it's upgrade seem to need to maul every other unit first. Navy ships have about a 50-50 chace it seems to hit air units and bombers just smack it all I mean there seems to be no average to that.

Actually, as far as I've seen, C3C follows very simple rules about what bombardments hit what units. Land artillery only ever hits land units, bombers hit air units first, then naval units, then finally land units in the city, and sea bombardments first hit naval, then air, then land. Yet another reason a combined arms approach is useful' you can tailor your attack force to hit the targets you want to hit first.

thats odd, I've used arty to hit bombers before it just requires one of those situations where the improvements and civvies have been reduced to niothign and the bombers are all thats left with health.

in c3c at least i've noticed that like attacks like: when you bomb with air units, they hit air units first; when you bombard with sea units, you hit sea units first. But i think land arty hits air first-I haven't used them for a while. And I think anything can kill air

No, Atrillery cannot kill land or sea units. When bombarding cities the first to go are the ships, then the aircraft, and finally the defending units. At random times, either the buildings, or (more likely) the citizens of the city are killed. Thats how I know that the city is no longer a threat by harboring air or sea units.
