long time lurker first time poster.

been reading the great info on the site, and zephyrs guide on the 2k forums.
i like to go tall tradition, big fat capital citys, or honour wit aztecs.

how should i be starting as spain, policy wise? i get the exploration part. i always assume i wont get a wonder near by.
on the subject of spain what victory type should i be going for? i usualy play on king, thinking of moveing up in difficulty.

also i like russia, do i want to spam citys like the ai aka liberty? or should tradition + krepost for fat borders fast? ( or is that just overkill?)

wouldnt mind hearing ppls thoughts on victory types each civ should be aiming for.

Try this strategy with Spain http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=433159

Start out liberty, tech animal husbandry early, use the free settler to claim horses and then bulb Chivalry with the liberty finisher for conquistadors. Conquer some civs and then you can take any victory condition you like. With spain I'd go for a 2 scout start every time, actually I go for 2 scouts usually with any civ... sometimes scout, monument, scout buy hey what's the difference? :)

With russia you want to be going for a domination victory, or at least a failed domination victory that you turn into a naff science or diplo win when you realise you haven't got the goods to go all the way. I'll link you to a thread about a game with russia taking liberty-piety-autocracy for a domination victory. http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=455114. You want to take advantage of the double iron to really get a lot of conquering done early with swords/longswords. Orgainise your science to unlock the key military techs along the lines of rifles - infantry - mechs and also catapults - trebs - cannon - artillery as early as you can. Manage happiness with buildings and social policies.

good luck

wow snarz thnx for the links, that spain liberty seems amazingly good.

and i figured russia was dom/science.

like to go tall/tradition can u recomend a civ for me to try out. ( i hate gandi tho )

Try going Siam and take Tradition - Patronage, or maybe Aztecs with Tradition plus floating gardens. Tall/peaceful isn't what I would recommend as the funnest way to play civ 5 (it's better as a war game imo), but they will be good civs for that. If you have Babylon then they shine at everything, so that's another choice.
