if you are looking for a tutorial type of thing, the SG forum is usually a good place to start. there you can see how people of varying skill levels handle in game situations, as they write a log of everything they do. Look for GK2 - The Training Day Experiment to get a TON of great tips if you are a low or mid level player.
Alternatively, you could go to the Hall of Fame. The best players will often detail their games there, and you can also download some of their saves to try your play from different points in their games.
I don't think there are any videos out there...the game is much too long for that. I would review the 'succession games' as you can find some fairly detailed logs in many of the threads.
Example of what you would see if a video was made:
Turn 1: game idles for 20 minutes before any movement is made.
Explanation: the player is litterally gazing into the fog of war, and trying to decide on the first spot to settle.

Not sure if this was what I watched before, but I did watch a video of Aztecs and how it eliminated its neighbor with early war (at deity and a small world as I remember). That was sometime last year.
At that time I thought it was cool, but now I have to disapprove its tactics: phony peace treary. And IMO that was not the right way of playing the game.
