Can jungle grow on plains?

I'm watching a Lain vid and he's worried about jungle growing over his first copper. Can it really grow onto plains tiles?

No plains is too dry.

Jungle can't grow on plains tiles. Only on grassland.
It can't grow on corn or cows that are on grassland either. And I don't think it can grow on iron/copper/horses either.
Only on rice, pigs, gems, ivory and the calendar resources.

An easy way to remember is this: jungle can't grow on plains, or any resource that normally cannot spawn with jungle on it.
