It not all about taking loans. It's more about not being able to sell luxuaries for full price if the ai doesn't have enough gold. I can't compensate the lack of gold with gold per turn.It is a shame that that feature isn't in a game no more. Taking loans from a friend was one of the best reasons to have friends but I also understand that there is a solid reason why it has been cut from the game.

I didn't notice taking loans is disabled as well. Yeah, it is even worse that I can't take loans. I wonder if this is a coding issue or an intentional balance change. At least, community patch itself should not include balance changes like this.Well that has never been a problem for me personally. Only thing I miss are the loans really.

The exploit IS that you can take loans right before declaring war. Even if they added an opinion modifier or made you never get a loan again, it's still an extra burst of gold and an easier war once per game.Though I have litte hope that its feasible (your fantastic project too close to completition and probably impossible/too hard to code) and so more out of curiosity...would SMAC model of "eternal debt" (= payments are only suspended if war breaks out to sum it up in a few words) solve the exploit concerns you have in mind?
