Can ya? Its just that im in a critical part of my game and i need to know before i use some turns just to find out. I don't re-load. :)

i think you loose the oasis, but you get some food if you build a city on desert anyway.... so build it next to the oasis..... or some5trhing

In the epic game, the only things you can't build a city on are water, mountains and marshes. You can build on marshes once they've been cleared. Rules change for the individual conquests. You do not get the food bonus of any resources you build a city on, but you do get shield and commerce bonuses. So generally, try not to build on a food bonus tile without a good reason.

Does this also apply to any strategic resources on which you accidently built a city ??

You do not get the food bonus for that resource, but you do get the other bonuses.

Are there any strategic resources that give food bonuses? I know wine does, but it's a luxury. I can't think of anything else right now. You do get that resource in your resource box, if that's what you're asking. I generally try to avoid settling on any bonus, even bonus grassland, but I'm kinda freaky.

EDIT: I reread your post, and I think I understand what you are asking now. Yes, you do get shield and commerce bonuses from strategic resources you settle on, like if only we were said.

A neat trick is to settle on the desert next to the oasis. IIRC no matter where your city is founded, the actual tile that it's located on gets 2 food and at least 1 shield. I found this out by accident.

Of course, I could be wrong.

You do not lose the oasis, nor do you lose the bonus food production (or shield production in the case of bonus grassland and the like). It is just that you do not get to use the bonuses until your city reaches size 7 or 13--I can not remember which is correct.

No, defintely. If you build a city on a ressource (it doesn't matter if it is bonus or luxury) you loose the food bonus Commerce and shield boni from ressources are not lost.Reaching pop 7 or 13 gives extra shield and commerce as well (especially if you are industrious or commercial), but it hasn't to do anything with ressources and their boni.

Yaype is right in that it does matter if you build on terrain (not resources) that give shields, you will see a shield boost once your town reaches city size or greater.

However, ummmm.... has the rest down pretty solid.
