can you turn of animations?

I really don't need unit animations, it just makes the game pace even slower.

any way to turn them off? like quick movements in civ 4?

Only when you start a new game, the option is in the advanced game setup.

What option are you thinking of? I found "quick combat" which I'd guess takes away the combat animation but the animations for units running are still there.

To the OP, is it the combat you want to suppress, or everything?
