Frustrating.
I had an initial problems installing Civ4 on the Vista box,
so, given that its a decent spec PC, I decided to run Civ4 on an XPSP2 OS run through Virtual PC.
No problems installing, but got the "Can't Locate CD error" when trying to run from this OS.
Is this an issue to do with the Virtualised OS (I wouldn't think so).
What steps can I follow to troubleshoot the problem.
I can email a txt file of the output from the msinfo32 util, but I'm not going to post it to general.
Incidentally 2k's support isn't great on this - check which CD you're using?!?
I'm using a DVD! - eh! thanks there lads!

Help would be greatly appreciated.

(I'll have to try reinstalling on Vista if I can't get this to work.)

Oh! & Happy New Year Folks!!!

Fixed that quote for you ;)

Welcome to Civfanatics :band: :newyear:

This is a safedisc issue - there are multiple reasons for this and one major problem can be that the dvd drive does not properly communicate with the OS - normally I'd recommend updating your drivers but virtualization makes things murky since it could also well be due to this - you might want to check whether the virtual machine you use works properly with current safedisc versions.

Thanks Ori,
I'd looked into this issue, as it was referred to in an MS KB referred to in a similar thread. For some reason, I didn't have the option to install the .inf file as had been indicated in the MS KB.
In fairness though, it was pretty late in the evening; I'll revisit this option later on. I'm sure that the safedisc file being used was a little dated.

Thanks again.
