Cannot update to V.3.17

I have Windows Vista, thew the the Automatic Updater i cannot receive the update to Ver 3.17. I downloaded the update from civ Fanatics and when i try to run the update it won't run. During the install, i can get to the install button, but then the window go off the screen and and it is gone. I uninstalled expansion pack, reinstalled and same issue. I tried all this in compatibility Mode (Windows XP and NT). Any suggestions?

Did you try running the patch w/o compatibility mode?

Yep, ran the patch with the mode.

Right click on the patch and click 'Run as Administrator'.

Ugh, is that the fix? I never even thought ppl might be logged in as a limited user heh.

Not necessarily. I'm logged in with administrative rights, but even that doesn't always work . I've found it's easiest and saves time to just always install software/patches using the 'Run as Administrator'.

The patch requires access to the game install directory ( duh ), that normally is in C:\Programs\Firaxis . Vista , by my experience , is extremely itchy about changing anything in the Programs Directory wif you don't run stuff as Administrator......
