Just installed both new DLCs and suddenly the game won't run - I either get a message saying application can't access my graphics card or, if it does start the game stutters, sound crackles and eventaullu it gives up. I have a laptop with an nVidia Geforce GTX 960m which has always worked in the past - I also use nVidia's GeForce experience optimiser.
Any thoughts on why the game can't access the graphics card?

If you have a dual-graphics system (the 960M and Intel integrated graphics), it may now be defaulting to the integrated graphics for Civ VI. You can tell most easily by running a DxDiag and seeing which graphics adapter is running. Assuming all that is the case, you can try firing up the NVIDIA Control Panel from Control Panel, go to Manage 3D settings (I believe that's the item) and direct Civ Vi to always use the 960M.

Thanks very much, really appreciate your advice. My dxdiag shows the graphics are using the intel unit but that the render is handled by my 960m - is this OK? I did make the changes you suggested via the nVidia control panel but when starting up either with DX11 or DX12 I get an error message that says "Graphics set up has failed. Please ensure that your system has a correctly configured, compatible graphics device". This doesn't seem to be a problem with other games and only occurred when I downloaded the Polish DLC a couple of days ago.....
