Can't advance in science after some point?

Hello, just installed Civ2 and played aliens for huge nostalgia effect

I have one question though, after some point, only thing I could research was one that just gives you civ points, while other civilizations where advancing.

I am missing something really simple, am not I?

If you are talking about the Fantasy add on, I never played it. I had it and it also is part of Test Of Time iirc. Not installed it in years though.
