Can't contact

I'm playing an LAN game with only two players. For some reason, neither of us can contact the other. We both have Alphabet and plenty of technologies. Whenever I click on his name to get to the contact screen, nothing happens.

Any advice?

Have you met him yet? I mean is there that little question mark to the right of his name?

Yes, I've met him. Is it because I'm Washington and he's Roosevelt (Both America)?

Please don't post two threads about this. Methinks a mod needs to combine this with the one in Multiplayer and PBEM.

And no, I've played two Americas before, no problems.

When you click on his name a phone sound will sound for him, then he needs to click you're name to open the trade menu. It took me awhile to figure this out also. And you will notice when someone is contacting you you're name will be flashing.
