Can't load civ with Win7, XML errors

"The second: Just change them. If they are 0, then change them to 1, or if they are 1, then change them to 0."

Does that go for all files Ini, the J? Or just some? Please be specific and I will try that out.

I don't care what some people say when they state they can play BTS Mods on Seven. I think BTS needs a Seven patch!

With the help of a computer savvy mate who came round t his evening I made a great discovery, the J., and my profound apologies to Civ IV and MS. Beyond the Sword (BTS) does work fine on MS Seven, it is just that Planetfall is a MOD I can't get to work.

I shall have a think about tweaking things for Planetfall; but many thanks for the suggestion. In the meantime I now know that I can play several MODs in its stead on BTS, much as I will miss Planetfall. Planetfall, IMHO, needs a Seven patch.

Perhaps I put my reply on another thread.

#19 has nothing to do with the .ini file.

If Planetfall unpatched will not work for on 7 how many others will it not work for?

Is there going to be a patch for those with the Microsoft Seven OS. I keep getting XML error msgs. I can player other BTS mods but sadly not Planetfall anymore. :(

That's kind of what I expected. Given Cmcastl's limited computer literacy I'm assuming he somehow installed Planetfall wrong, eg only installing the patch instead of the main file first, or the UAC is enabled.

Thank you for the vote of confidence, Maniac.

I can play several other BTS MODs on my new system but it is only Planetfall which takes exception to some XML lines.

Pray tell me how I should install BTS and Planetfall so that with my "limited computer literacy", I have been playing computer games since 1998, though I am admittedly not a programmer, so that I can play Planetfall on Seven. Also, pray tell me how I can play the BTS Star Trek Mod with nary an XML error msg in sight?

Nevertheless, live long and prosper.

I look forward to reading the complaints of others with MS Seven who cannot play the Planetfall MOD until and unless a successful universal MS Seven compatible MOD is published.

The irony is, for all the hostility shown to me for complaining I can't use it under MS Seven, that this was my favourite Civ IV Mod; indeed one of my favourite games. Just as the original Firaxis SMAC had been.

Trying to tweak things will just not do IMHO; this problem requires a foolproof MS Seven compatible MOD.

I complain that despite numerous attempts at installing the MOD I can't play it and I get beaten upon on this threat and called computer illiterate; I leave others to draw the moral.

Furiey, thank you for your response. I have been playing other games but I would like to get back to Planetfall if possible.

Below is my Ini file for Planetfall 13M.

I don't have the specs problem anymore, since a friend used the Options to upgrade the specs but I still have the XML problem; I get a whole list of XML error msgs; too many to reproduce here. There is something about Planetfall's XML which Microsoft Seven, or at least my OS Seven, doesn't like. I do find, I should say, that I can play the BTS Star Trek Mod and some other BTS mods on my new OS with no problems. Is there anything I can do with this Ini file to resolve the XML problem? If it needs a much deeper tweak than this, I shall have to wait until there is enough pressure for Maniac or some one else to come up with a patch for playing this MOD on Seven with minimum tweaks.

Thanks for replying. Your ini instruction I understand, thank you, but please tell me what is BUG? I don't know if I have it installed or not.

If you don't know, what it is, then it's likely that you didn't install it, right ;)?
BUG is THE big interface mod out there, many mods incorporate it.
It can conflict with the interface of other mods, but should in general not lead to any exceptions.
