Can't load civ with Win7, XML errors

Actually, I have now found and downloaded the BUG mod exe file. So what do I do now?

Thanks for the suggestion, the J. Yes, I did change the ini as recommended but it made no difference. :(

I keep getting these XML messages which are mainly about an insufficiency of memory. But take my word for it - my upgrade has plenty of memory!!!

I do find the Seven compability option very hit and miss. Hopefully, either Maniac will work out a Seven fix or some new drivers will come along to sort it out.

Live long and prosper.

I don't have the specs problem anymore, since a friend used the Options to upgrade the specs

What do you mean by this?

I am getting an error message that says "Your machine is below recommended specifications. The graphic settings were altered to accomodate this, however, you may experience performance issues." If there is a way to get this resolved through the options menu, I'd love to give it a try.

And I do experience performance issues. If I try to load a game that is in the medieval era the game crashes. If I try to load a game from the ancient era, it starts up ok, but all animations are turned off and the lowest graphic settings are displayed.

I have a fairly new graphics cards (nVidia GeForce GTX465) which ought to be compatible with a game live Civ4.

I run civ on (amoungst other things) an i7 with W7 x64 and an ATI 5800 series card. I got both the voice capture message and the message that my system was below the minimum specs. The line to change in the .ini file to get rid of that one is:

; Don't show minimum specification warnings
HideMinSpecWarning = 1

This doesn't fix anything though, right? You won't get the warning message but whatever is causing it in the first place will still be effecting performance?

If you know your PC is above min specs than there is nothing to fix and you can just hide the warning. I got that warning with an i7 and new ATI dx11 card. In some cases it may still reset your graphics options in the .ini file in which you may need to consider write protecting the .ini file, but as that can cause other problems then better not to do it unless you need to.

Thanks for the reply. The thing is though, even when I disable the message, any game that is mid game or later will crash on me when I load it. Just a week ago I did not have this problem, or the warning. Then my graphics card fried on me and I replaced it with a card that is well beyond the required specifications....and it still happens.

I am not quite sure what argument I am in the middle of here but simply to say, if it clarifies things, though it probably won't, I strongly suspect that some Beyond the Swords mods such as Star Trek will work in MS Seven, as it works for me perfectly, and some mods such as Planetfall, sadly my favourite MOD, simply won't. Not until Maniac, the creator of that mod, works up a fix. It had been suggested to me that my hardware is corrupt but frankly that won't do as an explanation; I can play a wide range of other games no problem. Planetfall, and perhaps some other Beyond the Sword mods, have problems IMHO, actually, in my fairly confident opinion, with Microsoft Seven. I do not blame the modders and I do not blame MS Seven; it is simply the way it is.

Live long and prosper.
