Can't login to Gamespy

I'm eager to try my hand at Civ online, but I can't, for the life of me, get CivIV/Gamespy to cooperate. When I try to log in to my Gamespy account (which I haven't touched with a yardstick for years now), the screen freezes up for about half a minute and then does nothing. Same screen, no error message or anything, like nothing had happened. I've tried disabling my firewall, but that doesn't seem to help very much. Anyone know what I should do?

(On another note, login uses an account ID, but the name of my Gamespy account has some numbers and punctuation, both of which can't be used for typing your account ID.)

I used to have this, till I closed down Zonealarm.

Now I cant login, it doesnt accept my account name (even though it works on the gamespy site.
