can't play civ4 on windows 7

I installed civ4, and when I launch it while it is loading I encounter a ton of XML load errors. I tried running it in compatibility mode, but it either showed the XML load errors or told me to put in the correct disc (it was the correct disc).

I am using the game of the year edition of civ 4 1.74

I attached the dxdiag if that helps, I don't know I'm fairly ignorant about computers.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I miss civ 4 so much!

try the following: right click on the shortcut with which you start the game and chose runs as administrator - does that do anything?

Oh ok gotcha. No, it gives the same XML errors.

I would do the following: uninstall the game
then reinstall it - but make sure to right click on the setup.exe on the disc and choose run as administrator
then see if it start without patching it
check the version, if it is 1.61 then patch it to 1.74 (I think Game of the Year edition is - but I am not 100% sure) - if it is not 1.61 but some lower number then first patch it to 1.61 then to 1.74
and always make sure to run all patch installers as admin rights.

it won't even let me uninstall the game, it keeps giving me an error while running setup. I don't know what is wrong with it.
