Can't see the right edge

I have looked back through a couple months' of comments, so forgive me if this has already been answered.

I am running PTW on XP. The game is installed, and it plays properly (AFAIK), but I can't see the whole screen.

It looks as if the entire display is shifted a couple inches to the right; the top and bottom edges of the game display line up with the top and bottom edges of my monitor, as they should; however, there's an empty two inches on the left edge of my monitor, and I cannot see the rightmost part of the screen.

Fonts, animations, all that - they all seem to be working normally.

I understand, from captures here and from the manual, that there are some things there on the right edge that I might like to see.)

If I carefully move the cursor off the right edge of my monitor, I can still do things over there - for example, when starting, I can't see the drop-down arrow to set up the opponents, but I can move the cursor over there, fish around, and find the arrow.

If I toggle out of the game while playing it, my entire desktop is shifted over like this; once I end the game, the desktop returns to normal.

Any ideas?

Most monitors have settings that you can adjust you screen positioning, so you may try those. OR, if you change your screen res to 1024 x 768 before hand, then make sure the screen displays properly that way. If you can't get it to work by doing that, find the specific model of your monitor and look for a driver update (or more specifically an .inf update). If you can't find one, try changing your monitor to be a "Super VGA 1024 x 768" monitor and see how things look. Having current video drivers will also help with this. If it has been 2+ months since updating, you may look for a new vid driver.

If you don't want to or are having trouble screwing around with the monitor positioning, there is probably a reset button.

Hey, thanks for the help. The res was already at 1024x768, so that was out. I did get a driver upgrade, but that didn't do anything. But I started pushing buttons on the monitor, and found an auto-adjust option, which fixed it.

It is a whole new game when you can see the whole screen. I'm still losing badly, but at least now I can see the whole result of my awfulness.

Thanks!

Hey, I am experiencing a problem reinstalling Civ 3. I recently installed the game on my new cpu. I was having a few bugs, and decided that I had downloaded too many maps/patches/crap from the website.

I uninstalled the game and everything ran fine, it said that the uninstall was successful. When I went to reinstall, it runs the installshield but then pops up a window that says "Do you want to remove the selected application of all its components?" I said yes, thinking that something was left behind. It then runs a quick check then tells me that maintenance is complete.

I checked and couldn't find a trace of the game on my hard drive. On the add/remove files option under My Computer, it tells me that Civ 3 is still there, a 1.3MB file. I try to delete it but it won't work.
also i had the out of range problem and fond someone posted run with 75 herts on 1024*768 runs perfect now this

I have the exact problem mentioned in the OP. Odd thing is that sometimes it works fine, sometimes I get the problem of the display being shifted to the right. I just have to sit there and quit/reload until I finally get it to work correctly. Sometimes it takes me 20 tries, sometimes it works the first time. No advice but to confirm that it happens to me as well.
