Capturing an Heroic Epic?

Right now I am playing great plains with Louis to get a quick cultural victory (I am trying out different leaders for this). With the massive culture I am acquiring a city flip is certainly not out of the question. So at one moment I flip a city from Hannibal and I examine the city. To my astonishment I have the heroic epic in that city. I didn't build it yet. All other culture buildings were gone after the flip but the heroic Epic stayed and even said +4 Is this a glitch? I never ever captured a national wonder, so how is this possible?

IIRC i captured Hermitage once on Warlords game. I don't remember if it was giving culture, though :/.

That's a bug (and I thought it was one which got fixed in quite an early patch). National wonders should never survive city capture.

I have never had an AI national wonder survive after taking the city.

national wonders survive if you havent built them so far i think.

I have tried using WB to capture cities with National Wonders in them, and it failed every single time.
This is only one experiment, though, so that is not conclusive.

Could the difference be that I:
a. Didn't build the heroic epic yet?
b. Got the city by a culture flip?

I am running warlords with the latest patch. I never have seen it so far.

There was in earlier versions a bug where the palace would survive culture flipping an enemy capital, but that was definitely fixed. This might be a similar thing, though I'm surprised it hasn't been noticed previously if that's the case.

i think that's it, and i'm not sure it's a bug. you didn't capture the city, you flipped it, those are different categories and follow different rules. i got washington's national epic that way, but the library required to build that wonder didn't come with it, that's kinda dumb.

i did NOT want it, and had to gift the city back. i was then able to build NE where i wanted it, but the rules didn't allow me to culture flip his city ever again. didn't stop the culture pressure on it tho, and it spent approximately eleventy zillion turns in revolt off and on until the end of history. he didn't get much done in that city, neener neener. i later flipped his chicken pizza city and kept it just out of spite.
