It's my 4th hour trying to make in game flag from an normal 128x128 image. Flag's always orange... and once it was black. COuld some1 help me from step to step... click by click. I both have Photoshop CS3, and GIMP 2.

A few resources I found in this subforum:

Making a button from a flag DDS

Inverting a Flag DDS

Building a Flag

Making a Flag look better

The third one might be a decent walkthrough on PRECISELY how to do it, but I think that the first 2 cover enough for you to figure out what is going wrong. From skimming them and what you posted, I would assume you are changing the color on more than just the Alpha Channel, so the Civ Color is overlaying the colors in a strange manner. Leave your base image pure white and only edit the Alpha to make it work the easy way.

None of em worked. One of them shows how to make button, and other 2 are showing me how to make flag with TWO colors. a Primary and a secondary. I need many colors image... "non decal flag".

Why dont you put it here, and lets see what you have so far, it might be just one simple thing your forgetting is all.

They talk about multiple colors during those other threads. The information is probably a tad bit outdated, but the basic gist of it is that the Civ Colors will be set to overlay your flag no matter what you do, based on the alpha layer.

White in the Alpha Layer is Civ Color 1, Black in the Alpha Layer is Civ Color 2. So you need to specify for one of the Civ Colors to be very high Alpha (so that it won't obscure the image you want to create on the flag), and then set the alpha layer to use that color for the entire flag.

Other than that, you just have to live with having some color washed over whatever image you are placing on the flag.
