I propese a beline to get Nav. FIRST, and settle the unclaimed landmass.

20 will work fine; we will be doing a whole lot of nothing untill nav.

are there any other players beside me, TemporalAnomaly, and Elmarae?

1) 700AD: I shift the lux slider to 0--we have just enough happiness to avoid rioting. This will give us 9/turn. I check with civs, they each want 800 or so gold for invention, too much. There are no other improvements we can make, so I'm going to try to make a suicide run with a settler. I know you guys don't like it, but I want off this rock and I think India may get lucky and colonize it first if I don't.

2)710AD: I calculate that our safest course would leave us 4 turns in the ocean. I bucked the odds earlier with 5 turns at ocean.

3) 720: I move Kon=Tiki west. It is going to defend the island and sink anyone who comes around.

4) 730: Have galley built, start settler. We will have education by the time settler is built.

5) 740: Since we'll get ed next turn, I pull back on the science slider to get gold.

6) 750: At 90% science it will take us 28 turns to get astro. No one else has ed, it appears they are going down the gunpowder line.

7) 760: Settler built, start uni. Settler loads on ship, ship stops sse of Seoul. With GL we are safe on seas, and I'll use them to minimize ocean travel as much as possible.

8) 770: What is with that 2-tile island of all mountains? No one can settle it! Galley heads e. Here we go...

9) 780: Japan allies with Germany against us. Our enemies all want education to end the war. They can keep on dreamin'. 1 down, 3 to go on the voyage.

10) 790: So far so good...

11) 800: Almost there...

12) 810: The Aztecs want to trade world maps, but we refuse. The galley makes it, appearing off the French coast. Now if no one attacks us...

13) 820: Seoul has quickly grown back to 12. Galley makes way along coast.

14) 830: All according to plan...

15) 840: We get the uni, I start on warrior, just in case one of our enemies tries to sail over to us. With just one unit, we are impregnable until late industrial. The Germans now have education, as do several others. Not wanting left out, we trade Ed to the Mongols for Invention + 2/turn. As expected, several others already have gunpowder.

16) 850: Switch to wealth. We don't really need another galley and settler, do we?

17) 860: Galley heads west.

18) 870: Same.

19) 880: Ditto.

20) 890: I buy Printing Press from Mongols for 490. I move galley into position. IMO, the Mongols make our best trade partners because they are landlocked and less likely to turn our trades against us.

TA, All you'll need to do is sail the galley with the settler due west to the sea zone. From there, you'll have your choice of where to settle. I would suggest between the cow and the forest game, with a whale upon expansion.

900: Make peace with everyone
920: P'yongyang Founded
930: rush lib send Kno-tiki and mayflower to explore NW
950: Mayflower sinks
960: Kon-tiki makes contact with the turks
???: Celts get astro the turn before us and sell to germany :wallbash: We use it to get everything but Metalergy. PS: we have no saltp.
1030: Kon-tiki find Viking
1070: temple built
1100: barakes (seoul)
(note I left out a lot of the world map/ contact selling)

I desided to devote seoul to building our future invasion fleet.

What do you think of spain as a target?

Nothing much happened... Saw that Catapults were queued? so let them build.

1170 AD Popped the hut.. and got a Settler
1180 AD Founded city (forgot name) started it building a worker
Finished Navigation > Metalurgy

You realize Germany, Russia and a few others have metalurgy.
How did we get into a war with the Zulu?

EDIT: TRADE! TRADE! TRADE!

Lets hear some long term startagizing:

I think our military work horse should be a sod of ~5 muskets (army?) + ~30 Hwach'a

Targets:

Zulu:
Pros: Saltp., Silk, little treat of third party oppertunism
Cons: Large, conquered teritory would require FP to be productive, culture

Spain:
Pros: Saltp., Inc., Small, too poor to buy many allies, foothold on mainland
Cons: culture, pourous border

fp: Eastern Mongolia compined with our naturaly remote palace would make any teritory between India and Germany productive.

Got the save. Will play later.

0) 1200: Pyongyang needs happiness, so I switch from harbor to Cathedral. What is the Kon-Tiki doing off the Scandinavian coast? We need a ship to defend our colonies. I send one of our caravels to do just that, with Kon-Tiki also heading that way. Trade Nav, 140 + 2/turn to France for banking. Cut science to 80% to make a profit.

1) 1210: According to plan.

2) 1220: Stay on course.

3) 1230: Germans start Newton U.

4) 1240: Mongols try to extort from us, declare war. India starts Adam Smith. I bribe the Aztecs to fight the Mongols with Engineering. Aztec is still technologically backward. Mongols are landlocked, but want to give them something to think about so they don't get allies against us.

5) 1250: Celts ally w/Germans vs. Zulus. Adam Smith becomes quite popular. Horses roaded outside Wonsan, worker moves to connect Wonsan w/Pyongyang.

6) 1255: Caravel arrives at colonies, starts patrol.

7) 1260: Nothing new.

8) 1265: Wonsan builds worker, starts spear.

9) 1270: Japan declares war on Germany. Seoul completes cat queue, starts bank. Second worker joins first in roading.

10) 1275: Spain allies w/Japan vs. Germany. This is turning into a world war. A Celtic galley appears to the north of the colonies. Unfortunately, my defender went south and is too far away. Rush a spear in Wonsan.

TempAnom, if you would rather launch the invasion immediately, feel free to reset Seoul to military. I thought it better to get some cash. Ditto for Pyongyang. Also TBD are what we'll do if the Celts colonize our lands.

Remember everyone while we are small peace treaties are expansive so, pay our protection money!
