Trades to get luxuries again Need Gems and Furs

Looks like Spain is about to get wiped out. I would suggest we go for India instead. I left the moves on the invasion fleet so it can be moved by the nexy player as appropriate.

Sending a Settler and Rifleman to settle in the jungle next to Osaka, hopefully if we rush a Library and Harbor there we can claim the Gems for ourselves.

India  You are a braver one than I!

While we may not be able to get bacelona, We should be able to get the other two.

After the spainish build up and take maybe the Celts?

Got it. Will play tomorrow.

0) 1375: Moved attack force east, to hit on Barcelona.

1) 1380: We lose saltpeter. Wonsan builds rifle, starts cav. Celts took Seville. Rifle moves to Pyongyang. We trade Grav to Aztecs for saltpeter.

2) 1385: Buy Steam from India for 1500 + 100/turn. Buy coal from Germany for 225--Bismarck has 3 of 'em! Land troops outside Barcelona.

3) 1390: Pyongyang builds settler, starts cav. Bombard on Barcelona destroys barracks and temple, damages units, but a rifle dies trying to kill their musket.

4) 1395: Someone softens up Barcelona for us, but 2 rifles still die. Dammit, Barcelona must fall to us!

5) 1400: Wonsan expands. Barcelona's last spear is redlined. We have only our conscript left. Rifle wins.

6) 1405: Pyongyang and Wonsan rush units.

7) 1410: Pyongyang and Wonsan start banks. We lost many of our resources. Trade 125 to Zulus for silks. Give Aztecs magnets for wine and dyes. Trade national to China for iron.
We are breaking even. Start Seoul on coastal fort, will switch to hospital when we get sanitation.

8) 1415: Settler and rifle land near Osaka.

9) 1420: Pusan founded, rushes a lib.

10) 1425: Nampo founded, rushes lib. Will try to flip Eboracum.

We will learn Sanitation next turn. Seoul should then be switched from courthouse to hospital.

If you're still looking for bodies to play I would like to sign up.

JB, I was looking for five total, but it seems we will have to make due with what we have.
Welcome aboard!
You may play the next ten, if you are up to it.
Just remember not to ruin our reputation before we have enough land.

I will out of town for a week; DBear, you are in charge.

1425
We’re at war w/ Spain and have a total of five cities. Everyone’s in the industrial age.
A courthouse in Seoul is worthless so we switch to cavalry.
I’m short-rushing a cavalry in Pyongyang.
Rushing a settler out of Wonsan

We get Sanitation.

1430
Barcelona and Pusan are both in danger of flipping.
We can trade Sanitation for Free Art and just about nothing else.
Sanitation to:
Germany for FA, WM, 1011g, and 70gpt
Zulu for WM, 73gpt, 129g
Celts for WM, 9g, 18gpt
Russia for WM, 17g
India and the Ottomans can’t come up w/ a thing so we wait.
Researching Industry at 100% in 28 turns at +14gpt.

1435
Celts have destroyed the Mongols.
England has signed a trade embargo against us.
Our income drops to 2gpt so I guess England broke a deal.

1440
Celts declared on the Germans.
Aztecs join the Germans.
Sign a RoP w/ India.
Russia and China sign an MPP.

Found Cheju.

1445
The trade embargo against us has ended because the Indians destroyed the Spanish.
I would like to trade Metallurgy to the Aztecs but they have nothing.

1450
Rush hospital is Seoul.

1455
Seoul has a hospital and is set up for growth each and every turn.

1460
Well, w/ the growth to 13 our growth rate has slowed to 2 turns.

1465
No trades to be had.

Scandahoovia joins in against the Celts.
China joins the dog-pile against the Celts.

1470
Nothing, no trades.

Germany is attacking Celt cities from across a river.

1475
Nothing much.
China will pay for Medicine or Sanitation but far below market prices.

We need a barracks in Pyongyang.
When we get enough cavalry and settlers we should join in the war against the Celts and start taking territory however we can. However, we have 11 turns left of collecting gold from them on the sale of Sanitation.

jb, I specifically left instructions to switch Seoul to a hospital once we get sanitation.

What is the order of the Roster?

As far as I can tell it's

TemporalAnomoly - away (skip?)
Elmarae
Dbear
JB1964 - Just done

So I'm up?

Perhaps we can put the roster at the end of each turn log. Would be helpful. I am blonde and have moments of cloudy clarity.

Ah, now the courthouse makes sense. Sorry, I know I read it but by the time I played I had forgotten.

Go ahead, Elmarae. TA is out a week.

Sigh... computer crashed just as I finished my last turn, so I lost the turn log.

So from memory...

Rushed barracks in all the cities and started building troops.
Attacked with no losses the Celt city on our island.
Germany destroyed the Celts.
Sent boats to pick up the Cannons (on auto move)
Sent a boat with 4 Cavalry to Scandinavia (to be joined by the cannons) also on automove
Researched Industralisation > Electricity
Various trades to keep luxes up.

I think we should try picking off Scandavia, they only have 5 cities.

IIRC, Scandinavia is primitive. But we'd need more than 4 cav to take it. Downloaded the save, but will probably be Sunday before I get to it.

0) 1525: Scandinavia is in the Ancient age, as they still need currency. Clearly they are our next target. I don't think four cav will be enough, however, and we'll make more. Germany is growing very powerful and I'm afraid of losing Barcelona and Pusan. Germany is ahead Corporate, Espionage, and Commie. They refuse to trade. We can get a deal with China to trade National, 800 + 36/turn for Commie, but the Zulus' trade agreement of 73/turn ends next turn, and we would be scrambling to make a profit. Upgrade spear in Wonsan to rifle, max production in Wonsan and Nampo. Put a fisherman in Seoul on clown duty, because they will riot upon the next pop increase.

1) 1530: PLEASE do not use go-to if it ends on a successor's turn. I rush a rifle in Barcelona. I want to plant a coal colony to the se. As expected, we are in a deficit. Cut science back to 80%, still losing 3/turn.

2) 1535: Barcelona starts a worker. Seoul starts cav. Everyone is trying to build Women's Suffrage. Coal colony established. We should start railroading New Korea. Why does Pyongyang not have a barracks? :shakehead: And why would you build a mine on a tundra square? Forests go on tundra. Worker outside Cheju switched to railroading. I'm thinking it may be worthwhile to switch Seoul to factory after the Scandinavian campaign.

3) 1540: On interturn, India wants 540 to renew the RoP. I refuse. Pyongyang finishes cav, switch to barracks. Rush cav in Wonsan. Switch Pusan to worker (wasted 4 shields), someone needs to clear out that jungle. With three cav abord Old Ironsides, it heads off to join other ship, which I rename Troop Ship 1.

4) 1545: Ships arrive at Barcelona, I only load one ship full, keeping the other Hwacha near Barcelona. Mao still refuses to trade Commie for Industry.

5) 1550: Miner done at Nampo, starts railroading. Rush cav in Seoul, another fisherman shifted to clown.

6) 1555: Pyongyang finishes barracks, starts worker. Barcelona builds worker, starts rifle. Barcelonan worker starts railroading.

7) 1560: After a period of peace, war breaks out on the continent with Germany declaring on England. Germany also tried to sneak a spy in Seoul. Bismarck is clearly getting too powerful, but we certainly can't fight him yet. First things first, and that's Scandinavia. Cut science back to 70%.

8) 1565: Zulus declare war on Aztecs. Pusan builds another worker, starts ironclad. We need some warships. Troop Ship 1 arrives off Scandinavian coast. I want to wait until the other cav ship arrives.

9) 1570: Germans sign MPP with the Ottomans, which means as soon as England tries to fight back, Ottomans will declare war on them. We do a little war profiteering by giving Aztecs Nationalism for WM, 16 +16/turn.

10) 1575: Germans build Suffrage in Smolensk (strange choice, on the border with Russia). I knew going after it would be a waste of time. We lose ivory, pay India 160 to get it back.

Here's the situation:
Troop Ship 1: 4 cavs, off se coast of Scandinavia.
Old Ironsides: 3 cavs, off e coast of Ottomans.
Galleon: 4 hwacha, off sw coast of India island.
Kon-TikiL 2 cav, parked next to Seoul waiting to fill.
Settle near Osaka: Empty, off Pyongyang.
Galleon: Empty, off Barcelona.

I leave it to my successor to plan the :hammer: of Scandinavia. I suggest at least waiting until Old Ironsides joins up with Troop Ship 1. You might be able to conquer without the hwacha, but I would suggest moving them and Kon-Tiki up to reinforce.

Pusan is in danger of flipping, I worry about the workers' safety. Also, after filling the Kon-tiki, building a factory may be in order for Seoul. Seoul can pollute all it wants, but since it's an island, there are no tiles to pollute!

We're at war w/ the vikes.

Our cavalry are offshore healiing.

We founded another city and filched a coal from the Germans.

The Germans killed then English.
