PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania (Reuters) -- A man described by authorities as a known sexual predator was chased through the streets of South Philadelphia by an angry crowd of Catholic high school girls, who kicked and punched him after he was tackled by neighbors, police said Friday.

Rudy Susanto, 25, who had exposed himself to teen-age girls on as many as seven occasions outside St. Maria Goretti School, struck again on Thursday just as students were being dismissed, police said.

But this time, a group of girls in school uniforms angrily confronted Susanto with help from some neighbors, police said.

When Susanto tried to run, more than 20 girls chased him down the block. Two men from the neighborhood caught him and the girls took their revenge.

"The girls came and started kicking him and punching him, so I wasn't going to stop them," neighbor Robert Lemons told The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Susanto was later treated for injuries at a local hospital. Police said he would be charged with 14 criminal counts including harassment, disorderly conduct, open lewdness and corrupting the morals of a minor.

Man, I would have paid good money to be a witness! :D

Yes....yes, this news is a little old....but still funny. Since they're close to my age, I think I would have liked that event very much......

It is sexist hypocracy, women flash at men all the time, and they are never arrested; but if a man shows his bit, the poor fellow is mercilessly persecuted.

For one...there are certain laws against showing genitalia.....while in NYC, I believe it is perfectly legal for a woman to walk around without any top as long as she isn't paid to do so. Second, this guy is 25 years old doing this to teenagers.

The guy is an idiot but that still does not give the girls the right to be him up. They should have just held him until the police arrived, I am sure the neighboors could have held him down until the police arrived. They should be charged with assault or whatever the kiddie assault is called.

Notwithstanding the distasteful conduct of the man, what the hell were those people thinking kicking & beating him up enough to put him in hospital ? The police are there to punish the guy, not them !

Where people taking the law into their own hands can lead to was recently shown in Amsterdam where a woman was accused of shoplifting by the staff of a supermarket (she was innocent), pursued, kicked and beaten and died as a result.
Not saying Catholic school girls could end up killing someone, but as much as I sympathize with their emotion, this was very very stupid.

(should teach me for wandering off to watch the footy - h4ppy beat me to it :) )

20 Catholic schoolgirls chasing down a man in a bathrobe?

:rotfl:

[I am assuming the bathrobe part because he was "exposing" himself. So sue me.]

had he just walked around town naked he probably would have just gotten public indecency, it's the fact that he flashed it to teenage girls that will probably get him the most punishment. really i have little problems with this sexist hypocrisy i think a man running around exposing him self is wrong while if women do it somehow it just seems ok(as long as they're not ugly)

i'm sure God really wanted the 20 catholic girls to beat the man:rolleyes: but it still would have been something memorable to see a man getting beat up by 20 teenage girls

I suppose the people who say even though he-probably-deserved-punishment-getting-beat-up-badly-by-the-girls-wasn't-the-way-to-go ARE right, I admit, I felt he deserved it fully. Especially if he's been doing this before. I think the humiliation of getting beat up by a bunch of girls 5-10 years his junior is what he deserved at the very least, too. :p

Come on folks...this guy had a history of exposing himself to young girls to get his kicks and to try to humilate them.

I'm all for victims turning the tables on these guys.

He got exactly the kicks he deserved!

Catholic High School Girl Vigilantes... Hmmmm, I'm going to start writing my screenplay right now! All I need is a catchy title... how about:

"Vengence In A Pleated Skirt"

It's not whether the man deserved it (He probably did ! Though I must say I'm a bit skeptical over his depiction as a 'sexual predator' when mention is only made of his exposing himself -the term 'predator' implies rape I think). What matters is people taking the law into their own hands and deciding what kind of punishment is appropriate exactly in what situation - surely that's a job better left to the courts.

I wouldn't be surprised if the man ended up suing those girls for battery and assault or something like that :(.

Yes I agree but not because I feel bad for the dummy that got beat up. By everyone applauding what these girls did and cheering, they dont understand that theyre putting other girls in danger. Teenage girls shouldnt be encouraged to run after and try to assault these guys. They could end up getting hurt or killed that way. The best advice is to get as far away from the perp as quickly as possible and call the police (I cant imagine a teenager girl that doesnt have a cell phone).

I make light of the story, but don't get me wrong... I do agree that people taking the law in their own hands is not the best idea.

It's just the IMAGE of twenty teenage girls, clad in their school uniforms, chasing down some half naked pervert in a raincoat is simply classic. Where's Norman Rockwell when you need him most?

well if we want to get technical, the judicial system would punish the guy, the police shouldn't do that either :D

Funny thing is that it sounds more interesting than anything else on tv :D

But anyway, all the girls involved should be charged with assault. sure they'd get off but they'd need to know that it's not ok to do that kind of stuff.

Its main audience would be flashers.

ha-ha. but he'd better not sue, since sometimes idiots that commit the crime sue the victims.

why turn our courts into even more of a joke? i don't see why everyone has to make a huge deal out of nothing

The case would have been little bit more difficult if the guy would have punched back the girls defending himself.

I bet guy would have get something like 10 years and girls would have get hugs and kisses.

I have never understood what is wrong of showing ones genitals. It's just stupid nothing else. Physical violence is something completely different...
