'Cause I'm the Taxman

Joao in particular would be nice to not piss off too much, he will be tech leader for sure and Friendly should be reachable easily with HR + missionaries + bribe to Buddhism. Provided that Sury and Joao don't start warring right now which unfortunately is quite probable.

Agreed about the plan... except the temple spam (yeah I am pasting Rusten's post here )

Played 10t.

Adopted Buddhism immediately. Traded for COL, then extorted from Pericles. Calendar for COL+50g next turn from Sury. I figured he would get Monarchy soon, since he obviously wasn't teching COL at the time, but decided to just stick with the agreed-upon plan and get Calendar. Got Monarchy about 6t later for 395g. Adopted HR then. OB with SB right away, scouted his territory now.

Stalin's army is slowly growing, but quite slowly. I parked a chariot between Moscow and St. Pete all set, and kept watch, but there's no major SOD.

KK just vassalized to Sury this IBT. We are at +9 with Sury, and more or less as we were with everyone else (nothing really happened with diplo, except we're now in Joao's fav civic). We also passed SB for 4th place on the scoreboard, due to city growth.

I had to play hide-and-seek with some barb galleys in the south. Luckily I won all 3 battles so far and didn't lose any improvements (Gergovia's crab net was in danger, but the barb galley just passed by it). This delayed getting down to the copper site all set. I just unloaded the settler on the tundra island last turn, and it's a nice 2fish/copper site. However, it turns out there's a barb city just south... If we settle here, we're gonna be the target for landings. I noticed 2 barb archers at Argos earlier, but I figured they were spawned on the Argos island. Now I'm guessing they landed.

Spread Hindu to Vienne and built the temple. Athens is building a market. There is a Confu missionary on the way soon, so the next player should figure out the timing of the gpp, as Vienne is currently leading with more priest slots.

I'll post some screenshots in a few...

Yeo, seems things are going as planned. I'm going away for 2 days and have no time for an in-depth look, but remember we need a fort or city connected to that Copper to actually get it.

Stalin got knights, soon KK will trade all his tech, though; I bet you still pay salary to the great general.

We need to trade for KK's HBR and construction rather fast then :) I'll have a look at the save later. I reckon we didn't reach a consensus about the GG... so I won't blame BBP for his salary

I thought there was a pseudo-consensus to make a supermedic out of it... Eles get 2 promos without it and it speeds up the offensive quite a bit.

W/ charismatic leader I prefer settled if I can run either vassalage or theocracy (both better but you can't touch theo here) while preparing for war. 7xp siege is one attack away of cr3 which is nothing to scoff at.
Then I go for w3/m1.

that's catapult which would benefit from it... I don't recall a final decision about that , but that's prolly my lacking memory at work :smoke: I am not opposed to medic also :crazyeye:

Weed:
We've traded away all of our clam. Don't know if this was now or in the previous set, but we're losing health/growth from it. Cancel something (silk probably as we have enough happy).
Still 2 sugar tiles without plantation.
Should've had a worker ready to chop the forest for Gergovia -- the lighthouse will take ages now. Probably still worth it sending someone there.

Other stuff:
Sell KK priesthood for 50 gold.
Trade for pigs (for fish) with Sury. (Grow more).
Does Kublai trade techs at cautious? [edit: Looks like he will trade techs at annoyed once we're not his worst enemy anymore.] If so we should gift stuff when he's no longer Sury's worst enemy.
Too many cottages. :run: Some of them are very poorly located.

IMO chop Moai in Bibracte now.

Roster:

1: Rusten
2: RRR
3: ungy
4: Silu
5: BBP - just played
6: EP - up!

Unknown: TMIT, stuge.

:mischief: Can't believe I forgot about that.

Short on galleys, especially with barbs roaming around my set. We could definitely use an island-hopping worker or two.

PS: I didn't think there was a consensus on GG.

No point to sell him for gold since he will trade both tech for your stuff, I think 50 for priesthood is underpriced.
What do you mean? 50 gold for priesthood is a great deal. Yes, the value is marginally higher, but we get 50 gold 'for free' as KK is not a rival now. If we wait the 50 gold might not be there (he doesn't trade with us this turn).

I'd take the PH trade. It's free cash, and I can't imagine PH holding any kind of value in later tech trades. Also, it unlocks COL for him, so we have more options for the HBR/Cons deal.

Would Sury be teching MC atm? Either that or HBR...

South fish/copper: Do you guys think we should risk settling there or withdraw? We really don't have enough galleys, and sending any troops down will be a chore.

So, what is the consensus on GG? I vote to settle it, and try to get Theo to boot, like bestsss suggested.

city sites: 4 south 2 west of Argos has three lakes and a fish, worth it imo. There is also that crab island, won't give much, but still some commerce, and a place to whip boats...
fish/copper: don't withdraw, barb city is so crappy it wo'nt produce much of a threat... those aren't Gyaathar's uber worldbuildered barb cities :)

I believe market or courthouse is more usefull than dun in Sparta.

I've noticed Sury likes going machinery -> guild before CS, so he may be on MC right now...

Theo is a bad idea as it doesn't get new promos if we settle (my vote, in Tolosa), and because OR is Sury's favorite civic :)

Sparta: I find it a bit confusing, 'cause it's so food poor atm. I'm not sure about its pay-out timeline relative to the timeline for taking Corinth. Thinking of doing a market, but changed my mind. You're probably right. Overbuilding duns - they seem really attractive with the bonus, but typically I wouldn't build any walls except in Thebes maybe.

I think the idea was to get 10xp quicker with more base xp + charismatic. Forgot about the diplo bonus for OR. I wouldn't go Theo then. Tolosa is probably the right place, that's what I was thinking, though Bibracte would be fine.

I'm sure it's a relatively crappy barb city, but I've seen 4-5 galleys in under 10t, as well as a couple of archers. Two archers landing could be enough to take our chariot. Probably overthinking it... I'd settle it. It's a pretty nice city.

I'm back o/ you can again bask in the glory of my observations :mischief:

The 8XP plan is kind of unnecessary in Elepult vs LBs IMO, most of the siege won't survive no matter what we do. Also for Cats the COLLATERAL_DAMAGE / HAMMERS ratio is much much bigger than fex with Trebs so promos don't synergy with them as much as with other siege as suiciding them is more profitable in comparison, making promos less essential. Combined with getting attack units to 2promos already without settling, I still think supermedic 1st is the way to go.

Will probably make more useless comments after looking at the save!

Sorry for falling silent without a warning. I spent the last two weeks at the barracks.

I agree with Silu about the supermedic. I've found that the help with keeping an advance going is more valuable than the extra xp. I'll comment more tomorrow when I have looked more closely at the save.
