Caveman 2 Cosmos

This makes no sense whatsoever. The AI works just fine in my games too. This has nothing to do with the steam version of CivIV BtS.
I think I caught the wrong quote. I thought it was Noriad. Mobile can make things confusing.
I certainly can't change it here, as the effort to do so would take minutes. Also keep in mind I was referring to the fact that "3.19.1" doesn't seem to affect my play experience.

No, but you should activate the steam beta version of CivIV BtS. The beta version is v3.19 while the steam ordinary version is v3.19.1.

That is one possible variable taken care of, then. Thank you. Might I suggest adding this to the Player Guide somewhere, as it isn't mentioned?

In the same vein, what exactly is the correct way of installing the SVN itself? The install guide for the SVN mentions right-click dragging the SVN folder to the mod folder, then selecting "Export without versioned files", but there is no such option. Only "Export versioned files".
An alternate option mentioned in the same guide, and this is the one I've always used, is to simply copy-paste the SVN folder. But this results in a significantly larger folder (double the size) than option #1. So which is correct?

Terribly sorry if I'm being a bother with all this, but I want to make sure I do this right this time, and perhaps make the install guide a little more idiot-proof. I used to mod the everliving daylight out of Morrowind back in the day, but that's a looong time ago, and I'm a bit slow on the uptake these days it seems.

You may:
1. set up the SVN folder directly into your CivIV\BtS\mods" folder and name the SVN folder "Caveman2Cosmos".
2. or use the recommended method where you right click your SVN folder (wherever it may be on your comp.) and perform the SVN export to your empty "CivIV BtS\mods\Caveman2Cosmos" folder.
When you do the export, use all the default options and checkboxes, you only need to define the folder path.

This results in a significantly smaller folder than option #1 (1.66gb vs 3.4). Is this correct? If so, might the presence of the other files be what was causing my issues previously, as that was essentially the method I had been using up until this point?

@Thunderbrd can I remove building/unit redundant tech prereqs?
For example Weaver's Hut requires Weaving and Shelter Building, but Weaving is already required by Shelter Building, so this building only needs Shelter Building.

That is correct, there are a lot of SVN related files that are not relevant to playing C2C, I dunno if they can cause problems, but I prefer to not have them there just in case, might give faster game launch as the game has to look through less files.

All the extra files are to do with SVN and versioning. They make no difference to game play.

Thank you all so much. Will start a new game today and see what happens.
Did do a quick test on an AI-only game with the same settings as my previous game (just on a much higher speed) and things seem improved, so I'm hopeful.

*edit*

Yup, AI works as it should now. AI got to Tribalism right after I did, then shortly afterwards started expanding. Thanks again everyone.

@pepper2000 I added few more resources to your three megafactories and fixed modern mill being obsoleted by mistake instead of oxen mill.

There is Valley of the Kings autobuilt building.
It requires Pyramids and Sphinx in same city (both of them are WW, and they are unlocked by Sculpture).

How I can make this more player friendly, that is player would know, that he needs to build Sphinx/Pyramid in same city, or that if someone built one of those wonders, player would know, that he has to snatch other WW, so someone couldn't spawn Valley of the Kings?

Add a help text key to the pyramid and sphinx that tells about it. The help text will appear in the tooltip for the two wonders. The help text won't be able to tell if one of the wonders have been built already.

Liberalism gives free tech.
Not counting X lifestyle techs it is only tech giving free tech.
Should this vanilla civ4 mechanic be preserved, or can I remove free tech from Liberalism?

Liberalism is three columns from Industrial Lifestyle.

I'd say it should be kept - kind of an easter egg. Besides, there is one lifestyle tech without this feature (Nomadic Lifestyle), so it would even out.

I am kind of confused. Came here with the exact same issue of AI not expanding( and not even building improvements)
But not sure what was the agreed solution... Latest SVN? steam BETA? just relaunching few other games and see which rolls?
Perhaps some settings are wrong?

Really eager to test all the cool stuff you guys have, and was really enjoying my Aztec game, until I have noticed that I'm literally playing alone with 1 city enemies on Emp difficulty.

V38 release was broken.

Try latest SVN.

Exactly what Raxo said. I had a ton of trouble getting the AI to expand...till I did a completely fresh SVN download, deleted everything and anything to do with the old version of the mod - including the stuff in the documents directory - and all the old saves. The AI now has no trouble at all expanding:

The Aborigines seem like they only have once city in the leaderboard, but they do have more than that because I've been getting messages on the top board that they've founded them - I just don't have LoS to ee them! :P

The only strange thing is, the game crashed immediately after this screenshot, probably due to the error in the log at the top when I researched the Water Wheels technology, but I haven't a clue why because the game was running fine till I got that tech and instantly crashed. I've had similar issues before involving crashes when researching insurance, but reloading the game fixed that one. This one seems to be repeating on my end, but I've just updated to the latest SVN and we'll see what happens! I just hope it isn't something to do with the mod-mod that changes the fonts and the other one that removes the latitude requirements, because this is a space map!

I was playing V34(SVN 7077) which I really liked. The problem is it keeps MAF:ing out very early. Any idea if there is a SVN version before v35 (SVN 7800something..) where the MAF issue is fixed? V35 was the version that spammed tons of siege weapons.

It might be hard to find that old files. I really recommend getting a fresh V38 when it is rereleased. It is so very much better than ancient V34.
