Caveman 2 Cosmos

Yes, they are a pirate event. Just like Illyrian Pirates which are also OP for their period since you can't counter them. That is the point, I think.

@Modders: Note this reaction by rwglaub when we discuss the "rubber band" to draw leaders back into the pack to make C2C playable for longer. The pirate events are "bad events" on purpose. Some players don't like such bad events. That is one reason that all events that cost money cost so little money.

Hi,

I've been playing this mod, and so far it's been a lot of fun - especially with Neanderthals. However, I've now reached the Ancient Age, and something strange is happening - techs are taking longer to research than their beaker cost and my beaker production indicates they should. For example, Fungiculture costs 1590 beakers, and I'm making 146 per turn. So, it should take 11 turns. But the game says it will take 25 turns. Is there some hidden factor that makes Ancient Age techs more expensive?

Prehistoric techs still cost the amont I'd expect them to. But I'm rapidly running out of those techs, and can't avoid the Ancient Age forever.

After a while the real cost of the techs go back down to be more reasonable value. At first I thought it was part of the mechanic to slow leaders down but now I think it is just that techs in a new era just cost more while you get the new buildings built.

Could anybody advice me what units will be able to see pirate corvette. Why gunship dont see it?
To be clear i like bad events. But spawning units that are invisible and pillage everything is very annoying.

In my last game I got this error two times, it was like "Problem in Beggining of Turn, event problem", I don't remember, but is it a common error?

@Nimek,

Put a Guard Dog on your Gunship. Dogs see Everything! :joke::lol::mischief:

Which version ? if it is with v26, be sure your downloaded the patch, and overwrite the files.

If you have logging on that type of error produces more information in the PythonErr.log. Posting that file will help us find the problem. With all the different civs in the game some errors only happen when a civ is in play at the start so it may not be a common error. Note PythonErr.log not PythonErr2.log has the information we need.

What exactly do you mean by "the new buildings"? Ancient Age ones? I'm mainly concerned because the math isn't adding up (or if it is, there's a factor that isn't being displayed), and I'm not sure if the AI is also facing these higher costs. I'd built up a nice Prehistoric tech lead, so I'd rather not have it disappear within the first millenium of the Ancient Age.

Edit: Also, I'm using version 2.5, since I had the game in-progress when that was the current version.

I have followed this mod from its beginning (and Civ from Civ1).
I have tried to download version 26 many times, but end up always with C2C Release which does not work. I can find no way of changing the file name except temporarily. It always reverts to C2C Release. Can you please advise, or better, would it be better to start from a suitable upload? This is a great mod., but please help to get me started.

I dont agree that techs cost to much. If you nothing changed from v25 that i played from prehistroic to transhuman note that i reach transhuman in 200AD (Snail monarch) and every tech cost 1-2 turns so i think: techs are tooooooooo cheap

My proposal. Make the game easy on setllers/cheftan (for that people who complains that this is to difficult) and make it competetive on monarch/emperor. I want to see civ as hard as hell (but i should by hard because its complexity not because AI build tons of units - like it is now on deity)

There should be a new level called impossible for those who can easily beat deity. This would Make AI super super hard to beat and probably give it a lot of bonuses to. As an extra banks to the AI you would only get a few minutes to complete your turn;)

What steps are you taking to get the mod working from the point you download it?

I am getting errors on the extraction at 41%. It works until that point, then I get "File XXXX uses an invalid compression format" or something similar, for 83 files overall.

I'm sticking with .25 I guess for now, I won't have to toss out that game I'm 4,000 turns into after all. ;)

Try redownloading, it sounds like you got a corrupt file.

@StrategyOnly It may be an idea to include the expected size of the downloaded file. When I tried to download v25 I only got 1.5Gb but no error message from downloading to say that the whole file had not been down loaded.

Thunderbird.
I download as normal, and the file which arrives is c2c release. I extract that to the correct Beyond the Sword /mod file, and it tells me of over 9000 errors. If I change the title to Caveman2Cosmos, it reverts to c2c release when I try to extract.
I do not understand why the download is c2c release!

The download is called Caveman2Cosmos. But the first file on the list of files to be downloaded is c2c release.

Extremely confusing. If I were you, I'd get the SVN version or try the torrent download. Much easier. Then see if you still have this odd problem.
