Caveman 2 Cosmos

Thanks for your response. I think I will just start the game using viewports and learn to play that way. I had a bad experience with V28 and had to delete the game when it became corrupted using viewport mid game.

I'm going back to version 28 until the option to remove barbarians is put back in. They make the game much too hard for me with them in it.

The problem with No Barbarians was that it also removed Animals, which wrecks the Prehistoric Era.

Yeah the animals are nice for sure but is there any way to slow the spawn rate for the neaderthals and barb cities that pop up everywhere.

Have you accidentally enabled Barbarian World or Raging Barbarians? Because without one of those cities shouldn't start coming until the Ancient Era.

I did get to the ancient era I believe before the cities started popping, but then at least 3 popped up not far from my border.

Raging barbs and barb world are not enabled.

Please show a screenie of your settings, that game your saying your playing, thx.

There are the settings and a screen shot of 2 of the barb cities. I had already razed 1 just to the southwest of Saipan.

Neanderthal spawn rate is controlled in the file A_New_Dawn_GlobalDefines.XML fount in the Assets/XML foulder of Caveman2Cosmos.

Edit in Notepad or equivalent, find the line
Code:
	<Define>
		<DefineName>NEANDERTHAL_SPAWN_MODIFIER</DefineName>
		<iDefineIntVal>120</iDefineIntVal>
	</Define>

Change the 120 to a smaller number 60 will halve the spawn rate.

There is not a setting for stopping the barbarian cities popping up all over.

OK i finally understand what your saying. Thx for the screenies. Now with the NEW AI improvements Koshling did, YES you are going to get NEW Barbarian cities forming around 350ish turns or so. That is "normal" behavior and the way all games should be (IMPO) I'd even like them to start around 100ish turns, actually. Which would mean they see another "tribe" for contact, and then the game goes from there as in what really happened in RL(sorta).

If you dont like them, do what you just did, just go out and Raze them. That way when you get your settler to "found" a city do it right NEXT to that razed city, and you will get a treasure unit, every now and them, if the tile is not improved that is. Best way to boost up your production of buildings being made. I wouldn't worry to much about them, really, they will only send out an occasional unit to roam around, but if you get too close you might get the whole stack after you. At least this is what "I" am seeing.:p

The other thing is you play with Aggressive AI, well it does have the word "aggressive" in it.

There are WAY too many of those cities and they get 5-6 of the latest units in them it seems like instantly. I played this game some more and the are all over the map now taking room I need for new cities. It's taking 20-30 units just to get rid of 1 city leaving me no time to go after the other civs. I hate to but I'm definetly going back to ver 28 until the option to remove the barbs is back.

Please provide another screenie of your current play map thx. Because your many may not be my many.

Large, or maybe Huge. At some point you'll have to use Viewports for Huge (and maybe even Large depending how far you go), as you will only ever get 4 GB of memory for BtS becasue it is a 32bit program.
I've gone through Industrial era on huge without viewports just fine. There's the occasional MAF every few hours, but it's by no means unplayable.

Is it safe to carry over my v28 user settings folder? I think I read somewhere that certain options were removed (or perhaps hidden/set off). If so are they particular settings (turned off and made unavailable) that I should check.

Thanks

Those 2 from earlier are still there and there are 3 more fairly close together and close to my border. I know that's a good many units in one of those shots but it'll take half of them to take that city out when I was hoping to take a civ out with that group.

In the screenies i only see 2 Barb Cities? You mentioned Far away, but what is far away?? So it take out 1/2 so what isnt that what you want to do?? Once you raze those cities, more than likely you wont get another Barb City for around 100 turns or more.

What do I need to do to build the Worldview Slavery? I have the Slavery tech, a Captive - Military, & my capital is a size 6 city. Am I missing something?

World View Slavery requires the following:
  • Trade (tech)
  • Slavery (tech)
  • Palace (wonder)
  • 6 Population

Do you maybe not have Trade yet?

Woot, I've been waiting for this! (Still waiting for stable AND2 tho lol). Is it possible to update the announcement on the download page? http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=15324

It's a teensy bit annoying having to track down the forum threads of every mod to see what exactly is the latest version. I'm trying to convince some friends to give it a go, "install the game and look up the Civopedia!" isn't exactly going over well :/ Is there any way of viewing it outside of the game?

Edit:
Whoops, this thread is already linked to on the download page. Hehe, my bad. I guess the site won't let you update the post, oh well no big deal since we can just follow the link here.
