Hi guys, this gigantic mod looks great. One problem in the start, i can't find "no future era" in the custom game start menu and game then starts with no future era.

How can i enable future era ?

There is a problem with options carrying over from your previous game or mod you played and c2c at the moment. Start a new game with "play now" then throw it away and start a new game with custom game. That should clear all options and give you the c2c defaults.
 
You know,
A simple solution is add few lines of code onGameStart and simply set all hidden options to default XML values.
 
Well, just do a loop through all options, whichever is hidden, set to default value.
Then who cares who suddenly decide to hide or reveal them :D
 
Actually HYDRo is the modder that changed all this, so i guess its better to let HIM say/write more about this, i hope you and all have a Great day, and as i always say, "Just Have Fun!"

You all have explained it very well and there is not much else I can say other than its a work in progress but its definitely unique compared to other mods out there. Its not for everyone but I think its benefits highly out weight its negatives.

But you also have to remember you are also starting from the prehistoric era where the cultures you pick don't even exist yet. So gradually getting a culture or two is a step in the right direction I think.
 
Concept of culture based not on World Wonder but on this crime/pollution mechanism - sound good. Because current system creates more illogical situations and problems than vanilla one.

And actually playing one and predefined civ through entire history is what I like the most in this game. I enjoy starting as Roman tribe (people who in future will become Romans) and guiding them through time up to modern times ("what if Rome had survived" scenario). I want to play as Romans - so I'd like to be sure that I'll be able to play as them. And that's why I dislike the idea of someone else becoming Romans just because they researched some tech or built WW one turn faster than me. I also never played any other civ than Romans, Egyptians and Russians. I have completely no desire to play as Inuits, Germans, Americans or Persians. Just as I have completely no desire to play against Native Americans, Inuits, Polynesians or Aborigines. And from what I see there will be no guarantee I could do this in your future, completed verson of C2C. And that worries me.

Either adapt your play style and objectives to the mod or move on. It is really that simple.

C2C is not vanilla Civ IV or even vanilla BtS. As a mod it took the core and moved in a new direction. To banter over missing out on a feature that is not in the mod is pointless.

Should the Modding team of C2C bend to your will? Are you in the majority of those that play C2C and visit the forum and give input?

As the Diplomacy screen says when the AI is not receptive to your offer, "You push us to hard."

Pffft! Caveman 2 Cosmos is the best Mod I have found for Civ 4. It might have some small issues but none are game play killers IMHO! I have been playing with this Mod since v15 or so, I keep coming back due to ton of content added constantly. Planet Generator 68 map script is the best too! ;)
 
Does the new version have an issue where it will minimize randomly? It doesn't crash, it just minimizes so that I have to click the icon on my task bar to reopen it. It nearly always recovers from the minimization fine, but on occasion will get hung up as it tries to reload everything.

I checked the bug list and didn't see this issue reported, so maybe its just me. Thanks for such an involved mod, its really something to be proud of.
 
This is the first I've heard of it... may want to report that bug in the bug reports if you find it in the latest version. If repeatable, please include a savegame.
 
No it never does that to me, are you sure it isn't windows update, or some ad popup? Anything popping up will minimize games..

I doubt it is related to C2C Thunder ;)

BTW, the Combat class plans are sure detailed, amazing amount of time and thought into that. If I can help you in any way let me know! :D

If you feel you're catching on to how the weapon classes are assigned you'll also notice its taking me a LONG time to do them. It would probably be helpful if someone who 'gets it' could work from the bottom up on those parts - I'd then just need to look over and review once I got to where others had contributed their assistance and make sure they fit alright.

I also need to figure out some new CC categories that define the armor and shields by 'types'... possibly by material and generic design such as UNITCOMBAT_ARMOR_MATERIAL_IRON, UNITCOMBAT_SHIELD_MATERIAL_BRONZE and UNITCOMBAT_ARMOR_TYPE_PLATEMAIL (Shield TYPE probably isn't necessary as its already somewhat defined by the unit's 'proficiency' cc). If you'd like to help by listing those off on the first page of that document down at the bottom that'd be helpful.

These won't be assigned directly to a unit but will be added to a unit by the armor/shield they utilize. The part that I'm feeling will probably start off incomplete on these categories might be some of the more modern stuff as I might need to research vehicular, naval, aircraft and spacecraft hull materials a bit to flesh the list out correctly.
 
I do not know how to code, but it looks fairly straight forward to do this stuff. I have coded before, but old school been a while. ;)

I want to help out more, learn the modding, but I can test things for you and if you point me what to use to access the files and where I can edit for ya dude. I learn fast with this stuff, I helped mod the hell out of Civ 3, but I didn't like it! lol

What I'm talking about is just adding further planning to the C2C Combat Class Planning document in my sig line. I might've gone to far explaining the end result purpose behind the planning.
 
i found a couple of game killers for C2c

1.every turn , all my cities grow unhappy and polluted , even if i block off growth
some turns , a city may go from happy +2 to negative 4 then again and again
its true you have buildings and civics to cover maybe -200 happiness , but not if it takes 500 turns to build those buildings and you get to -200 in 80 turns

2. the pathing to get to build a hydroplant ( any powerplant but hydro is best)
is execissvely convoluted , you have to get coppper , and iron and coal , make steel wares , make copper bars , make copper wires , build a factory . build power lines ...

3. to build a library or say a christian monastery , you need all the above , then build a furniture factory (which needs power) , get glass ( not sure yet how)

... now it took me 300 turns to get my resources in place to start a library
and by this time i have -200 pollution and - 200 happiness.

also takes 2 mins to roll the turn even on tiny map.
 
Sounds like you did not start the game in the prehistoric era. No work has been done to get the game to play smoothly in any but Prehistoric starts.

so can you tell me what options should i play with , for a non buggy game?
 
Caveman2Cosmos is about choice. I play as a builder and find war and combat to be detrimental to my enjoyment if I have to spend more than about 5% of my game time. I am also not a fan of the thief and piracy aspects of the game. Even if I am working adding some more dangerous pirates and bandits to the mod:D

:lol: :confused: :hmm: what :rolleyes: i do understand that statement, i dont always agree with alot of stuff either, but again, like you said in C2C, its ALL about OPTIONs

lol Thunder, okay I will take a peek, I know the different unit classes up to Renaissance but beyond that I am not sure yet. Only because I keep restarting when I new version comes out, anxious to see the new things added! :p

(Someday we need to get together hit a micro brewery and have a few beers! ;))

lol Dancing I don't care for wars and piracy much either but I have the largest fleet of pirate ships the Mod allows. Before you changed it I used to make around 50+ of them surrounding opposing AI, get a ton of generals! :D Glad it was changed!
